You know the bread trick? It’s quite hack-y but I used it to do my rear main and it worked fine

I've heard of it being used for pilot bearings, but not seals.

i have the worst memory—you’re right. That was for the bearing. Iirc I just used a small metal pick to puncture the seal and pull it out

What are you doing impacting flywheel bolts to install a seal?

Just a light impact in the correct pattern with my CT761 drives the seal in perfectly and quickly. The aluminum FM tool is great for that.

I guess I don't know how much torque it would take, but it works just fine to set the seal at the right depth using normal hand tools...or just hands. I probably wouldn't use an impact on it, but I don't use impacts to install bolts for any reason.
