WTB Badass Suspension - Tein, FCM, whatever
Can come up with $500-1000.
Sicked and tired of OTS spring/shock combos...I've tried every single motherfucking one and they're all ****. The combos that handle well keep me visiting the chiropractor, and the comfortable setups are wallowy and 13"+ ride height.
I want to make sure nobody has something sitting around before I PayPal Shaikh my daughter's birthday party money.
Priorites:
1. Ride. I don't wanna hear my wife bitching and complaining when I finally get her in the car for a date...ruins my libido.
2. Good for spirited driving and AutoX...no track days planned.
3. Fits budget, unless you just wanna ship now I can send you the other $1K when I graduate.
I know that Flex setup in the Classifieds is ideal, but can't touch his price.
If you've got something a little under that price point I'll do what I can with my paycheck tomorrow.
Thanks,
Damon

I'm almost there...****...might as well.
Had PMed the guy here (thymer I believe) about the uber-cheap set he had a while back, but they had already sold.
I should add PROVEN and DEPENDABLE to the list. I'm ready to slap something in and never remove my gas line cover plate again.

Thanks.
I tried talking p51lowballer out of his...but he can't afford to replace them with that flex either. Think they're worth buying new?
Aren't they just height adjustable and undervalved?
Not that I'm shooting for the moon, but I am going to be a little picky spending twice what I've spent before.

They're cheap, perform well, and are comfy. Much comfier than Flex.
Flex will give you better bump travel and more direct steering feel. They're also dramatically less comfy and more expensive.

gosped, you sure you don't want to keep those Billies and send them out to Stewart or Bilstein to set them up for you? You can even keep those springs you have, unless you are planning on doing some more serious autocrossing.
No ****, my FCMs ride much better than my old FM kit with KYB AGX. And that's with 550/350s on the FCMs, and the normal FM springs on the AGX. You could be out the door for $400 or less, and I think you'd be happy.
I'll let you "have" my FCMs for $2200 . I'll even autograph them for you!

Before I had my current FCM setup (adjustables with 550/350 springs) I had the Tein Basics (7/6 or 391/335) that were on the car when I got it. The Teins were harsh as hell at low speeds, wallowy at high speeds, and God forbid you hit a bump mid corner as they were VERY prone to hitting the stops in back... the FCMs are better in every possible way, handling, ride, bump travel...
Having owned a ton of different cars, a fair number of which had aftermarket suspension and saw track/AX use I would say without any hesitation that Tein Basics are the worst coilovers I've ever driven on... period.

webby and Renn:
Thanks for the positive reinforcement. I've been talking to Shaikh a lot and he's got a setup ready to start for me...just gotta send him PayPal.
I wanted to make sure no one had any affordable Flex sitting around, and that I wasn't missing anything. I should have known from all that reading that there's no substitute for a quality re-valve.
I'm going to have him set them up for 450/300 rates since you can run +-100, allowing me to run anything from my current setup (350/250) to ya'll's setup (550/350) while staying within that tolerance, in the front, and half that tolerance in the rear, and having the sweet spot set in a pretty common rate combo.
Thanks again.
EDIT: The problem with revalving my current Billies is that they are the NB bodies, which are nearly an inch longer (that's what she said). I'd be revalving a new set of NA bodies if I did this.
