Default Manual Boost Controller

As the title says; I want to buy a manual boost controller. I would appreciate it if someone could suggest one that's not too expensive. I'm heard about Hallmans but those are too pricey for me.

Thanks

If you don't want to make one, FM has one for $47 with a synthetic ball instead of steel. Supposedly faster reaction??? It's on their site.

Thanks

Any reason to expect trouble from the synthetic ball?

Shouldn't be. There shouldn't be anything in contact with it that would affect it. I'm pretty sure they have a gasoline/oil inert plastic bead. We injection mold a lot of parts here at work and the material is readily available.

save your cash. Buy it directly from 3barracing.com. I just bought mine from FM and I feel ripped off. They just keep taking my cash and running with it. It is $37 from the original site and they probably won't rape you on shipping. I paid almost $60 with shipping from their site. Wish they hadn't moved out to BFE, CO where apparently only UPS will pick up. $13 for shipping on a 4" cube box weighing less than a pound. Oh yeah, no USPS because they have a 'policy' not to use USPS for things over $30. Give me a break.

Anyway, just buy it directly. I hooked mine up today and it works great. Anyone interested in a used boost control solenoid?

eBay Motors: NXS MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER 300ZX GSX GST STI RX7 MBC (item 260295681515 end time Dec-02-08 16:10:19 PST)

this is all I've ever used....you can make the exact same thing for about $5. I would never spend more than $10 on a MBC.

What Braine said, and you probably won't notice crap in spool difference from a synthetic ball vs a steel ball vs one of my hairy *****.

I'm currently bidding on one from 3barracing thanks to Paul (who btw was the one who originally discovered it and was kind enough to point me to it when he saw this thread).

Thank you Paul!

The funny thing is that I contacted lazzer via email and with his assistance I was able to make my EBC work. Go figure! It's still spiking up to over 15psi at around 5,000 rpm and overboost protection comes in, but at least I know it works.

Thanks for the heads up. I was lucky enough to find 3barracing's web site by following the ebay seller's instructions and you're correct. I'd be pissed too if someone charged me that kind of money for shipping a small package!

FWIW, I read your original thread and I'm clear on instructions. I wouldn't know how or where to begin. One of these days, all of you mechanically inclined are going to accept the fact that there are others who don't have a clue about turning a wrench.

While I'm at it, I'll give you an example: the toolkit in my house? It belongs to my wife! She just hates cars, lol!

This guy is great! I have 2 of them. The first one, I didn't get the set nut tight. My fault.
THE GUY WAS SENDING ME THE PARTS TO FIX IT FOR FREE INCLUDING SHIPPING!!!!!
i BOUGHT A second one for the other car as well.

The thing I really like about them, is the pressure release port. It keeps boost stable and eliminates practically all boost spikes.

I usually never have any spikes.

And they are cheap and fast shipping.

FYI for anyone interested in purchasing one of these. Those guys have a: "make an offer" setup. I just offered them $16 and my bid was immediately accepted.

Thanks Scott!
