Summer tires
Looking to replace my old and somewhat hard tires. 15 x 6" wheels off a '99 model. Right now, tires are 195-50/R15. Car is a strictly street driven weekend toy. Maybe an autocross this summer, but mainly just a good performance tire that won't break the bank.
Looking at the Potenza RE-11a (or the newer model, the Potenza RE-71R) or the Kumho Ecsta XS KU36. Both would be in the 205 size if I can fit that on the wheel. Yokohama Advan are a little to rich for me right now.
Anyone have any opinions on either tire?

Not helping you much because they dont make it in 15, but the GT Radial UHP1 are kick *** and IMO they should make them in miata sizes. The only way that'll happen is if people ask for it. Based on how much I paid for the wrx size its probably a $50/tire range in miata size.
The RE71R's normally cord while on the UPS truck on their way to you.

mike.meeiem@us.giti.com is the contact email for their SCCA solo contingency guy. They do have a "fast" 200TW tire for call the SX2 but its the same price as the rest of the fast tires and no one thinks they're fast. But for like 3 times the price of the UHP1 they should be faster than hoosiers because damn the UHP1s are amazing for only costing liek $260/set for the wrx.

Cheaper is better right now, so I'll give these a shot. Now it's just a matter of finding a deal. I knew I could count on this group to steer me in the right direction.
Thanks!
