Anyone try them yet? TW200, claim they’re almost as good as R7.

if you’ve tested them please note:

number of heat cycles out of the tires before dramatic fade
characteristics you liked
characteristics you didn’t like
lap fade?
lap time improvement over tire “X”
where would you place in tire hierarchy?
nankang crs
Toyo rr
maxxis rc1

they are offering a 205/50r15
225/45r15 releasing later date
no info on 245 yet…

Bits of info floating around the interweb.

18-20" supercars size only for now
Just released so the public doesn't have them yet
Prelim banned from SCCA as a "200"
Faster wear than A052, about as fast
Possibly the most expensive 200 on the market
Not a Conti ECF

All hearsay so I make no claims as to the validity of these rumors.

Overall, meh from a cost/benefit for most drivers IMO

I've also heard people saying these are expected to be on par or more expensive than an A7. Like Emilio said above, 5/32" tread depth would make it illegal for SCCA ( I believe they require 7/32").

So far it doesn't seem like it's going to check any boxes for me. Even if it was legal for SCCA, not being available in a 245/40R15 and the price is going to drive me to other options.

I don't expect they're going to be cheap, but looking at the 275/35R18 (which is a size I sometimes run on my E46, so not "supercar" either) the MSRP is $399 vs $480 for A7.

There's a big thread about them on the GRM forum, where it's suggested that the intended market is people who want fast track day tires that they can drive to/form the track on. The Michelin PS Cup 2R, Goodyear Supercar 3R, stuff like that.

There is a relatively small but growing and very profitable market for 18-21" supercar trackday tires like the PS2CR, SC3R, Trofeo R, etc

20 years ago when trackdays were still a new thing, its was mostly cheaper, slower cars. Most trackday capable supercars didn't even exist then. Go to a typical trackday now you'll see plenty of GT3's, Mclarens, C8's, M cars and maybe a Ferrari or two.

I didn't realize they had released pricing info. Just looked at TireRack and it actually looks pretty competitively priced. A bit more expensive than a lot of the Super 200's but not dramatically.

205s are set to be released in Q4 2024, 225s in 2025. Question will become how wide is their “225” going to be. I just bought a set of 15x10s so unless they are over 9” wide I’m not interested… but if they come out and last 40 heat cycles with minimal drop, and turn out laps better than crs… then I’ll be buying a set
