I might have to get ugly fender bolt ons for this. I think I'll be sending my car to the body shop for rust repair long before proper flares are developed.

...or I could just be reasonable and stick with 225/9" combo. But we all know rationale is irrelevant here.

 

They'll fit under heavily pulled rears. Flares are readily available from probably half a dozen vendors. Wide body fenders exist already. Plenty of options.

 

Whats the weight difference in tire (225vs245)?

 

245 is 20mm wider

 

Weighed the 245/40/15 VR-1 at 23.1 lbs

 

225 VR-1 is not set to be released until later in the year.

 

I can confirm - your scale is very accurate. It'll be interesting to see how much weight they drop when shaved.

 

The 245 VR-1 is 23.1 pounds heavier than the 225 VR-1

 

We have done exactly that.

Informally at COTA over the weekend, and more scientifically today at Harris Hill Raceway. Going tomorrow for another round done differently. We'll also do autocross testing (on an STR NB Miata) in a couple of weeks, along with yet another track test once I get the KMiata running again.

245's on 9's and 10's. 205's on 8's.

this is pretty much going to become the go to wheel/tire setup

 

I hope Maxxis is prepared, and i hope that more tire manufacturers follow.

 

I'm ready to purchase.

 

 

Curious to see the reviews on this tire setup.

 

My $0.02 FWIW...by the time the reviews "hit the stands", the entire stock of these will be sold out (times 2, or 3).

I'm just going to have to take a flyer and hope that they'll be at least as good as the current crop of 225's and believe in my butt-dyno (until those reviews do come out - whereupon I will celebrate my astuteness, or cry in my beer).
