275/35/15 TW200?
It occurred to me that with the advent of our affordable and readily available 15x11, there might be sufficient demand for a 275/35/15 in something like a VR-1. Both for the stancekids and high hp NA/NB builds. The 245's are awesome but 275's go to 11.
I reached out to my contacts at Maxxis to see if a small production run would be possible. The original 275/35/15 Hoosier was simply a 225/45/15 with 2 inch plug in the center. Could we take the 245/40 and put a 30mm plug in the center. Dunno? Might be worth doing.
Thoughts?

Anybody that needs more grip than a 275/35/15 VR-1 will generate on track will opt for Hoosiers, Toyo RR, FA fronts or something similarly suitable.
IOW, a 275/35 VR-1 overlaps with smaller Hoosiers in terms of $/speed. It's not practical however, to run a full slick on the street as a daily for most drivers. Thus the need for the biggest damn street tire evar.

I would definitely be interested. It's always seemed like a bit of a chicken/egg situation for wide 15" wheels and tires, the interest was there but there were no solutions. I would be interested to hear how sales of the 245s have been as far as Maxxis is concerned. Seems like that would be the key to this, if those have beaten expectations I would think they would be much more receptive.

That is about all I can share.
But yes, until there is recorded sales history for a given size, the industry is reluctant to open new molds for niche sizes. This particularly so for less profitable per unit weight 15's than higher margin 17+ diameters.
Took about 3 years to make 225/45/15 Hankook Z212's happen. Took about 7 years for affordable 245/40/15's to happen. We start making noise now, we might have our 275's in 18-24 months. Worth a try.
Can you imagine an LSx swapped Exocet with 15x11's and 275's?

I would be interested. Especially is some of these "drag week" style Autocross events continue to grow.
FWIW I am making progress with Hoosier on building a 23" tall A7 wider than 275mm.
