Polishing gears isn't gonna do **** when the teeth shear off from torque. Get a 6spd for the better cut gears or go with quaife gears. I congratulate you on finally having a turbo, but don't start this **** all over again with a transmission. Is it going to take you 2 years to decide on what ******* transmission you want? You can get 6spds all the time for the $800 range. Just drop the coin...

Man, why drop all of the coin on a 135 when you can spend a 10th of that on what you already have and have a faster car? Funk dat.
Micropolishing may reduce the likelihood of crack initiation, and thus increase the apparent strength. But ultimately the underlying material is only so strong no matter what you do to the surface of the gear tooth. The surface finish and the underlying material have to work together to make for a strong gear.

but yeah, the 6-speed is the answer. I'm going to be ultra pissed when this car is stolen.

Do BMW computers log **** that would indicate track beatings, and provide them with opportunities to deny warranty coverage?

At least give the car a chance. I beat the hell out of my cars and I'm basically an unpaid professional car breaker. It looks like we both got boost on the miatas about the same time. I'm running a stock '90 transmission with 168k on it, with a '95 motor at 12psi, a '97 torsen lsd, and an exedy clutch. If I blow the tranny I'll let you know. Until then, I wouldn't worry about it.

Get a job in Socal somewhere and I'll let you codrive my car at a track event. 6-speed+4.10=epic win
Fastest track Miata in Cali is probably Emilio. 6-speed and a 4.30.
2nd fastest is probably BellWilliam's Rotrex NB. 5-speed and a 4.30.
3rd fastest is either me or TrackDayHokey. I have a 6-speed and 4.10s, he's got a 5-speed and 4.10s
5th is VagaXt, 6-speed and 4.10.
Mike (Minime) slots into there somewhere, but I've never seen laptimes for him. He's got a quaife box and 4.10s, but he got his quaife gears on eBay for like $800, lucky ****.

In a year I will be moving South and plan to spend a lot of time working hard to get up to that list with my 5 spd 4.30... FWIW I would never put a 3.anything in a miata intended for aggressive use. There is no use and it only makes it slower than the other easily available options (4.10 and 4.30)
