Yup, split it off and call it something sweet.

Edit, lol, the tags rock.

Edit edit, after it gets cleaned up and the troll is gone can we start a discussion on which ones offer good bang for the buck.

On my STS2 autocross Miata I moved from stock junk, to Koni Sports and GC OTC stuff, then to Koni 2812s and 700/450 springs.

I had the same codriver during most of the development time. He was consistently in the top ten PAX at regionals and usually trophied at Nationals. I started out by PAXing around 50th out of 175.

Every time I improved the car, I closed the gap between us. Improvements made the car easier to drive at the limit. My codriver had the ability to get everything out of the car no matter how poorly it worked. His experience allowed him to drive it at the limit, even if it was spooky. I couldn't drive it at the limit, and the spookier it was, the further from the limit I drove.

When I switched from the Sports to the 2812, I went from being about two seconds behind to less than one second behind.

Ya but it was all seat time... shocks don't make any difference.

I think the biggest advantage of the Xidas is that they work out of the box with different springrates-so changing the setup and tuning is easier. I would bet that revalved Bilsteins and Xidas running the same same rates would be pretty darn close to each other.

What about travel (can you slam the car?), lightness, and whatever you get from AST pressurizing >175psi which they're very proud of?

Less unsprung weight is always an advantage and the Xida/AST's are definately lighter though. Keep in mind you only get around half the benefit though. The shock is attached to the sprung mass (on one end) so any weight reduction is split between sprung and unsprung masses, unlike say wheels.

Bilsteins are also high pressure like the AST's, though I think the Bilsteins have more pressure if AST is using 175psi.

You'd lose that bet. The XIDAs are magical because they make big fat stupid road imperfections feel like stepping on a dime through a pillow. You can still feel what every tire is doing on the road, but nothing upsets the car. It is eerie how well those dampers work.

Price difference between the two setups doing battle sounds fair.

What are the conditions? Track or autocross?

Who can be a non-bias mule?

Let me get this right.

You are betting that I can't build a set of yellow body, off the shelf worldpac special Bilstein's that can beat a set of Xida's?
