The Stewart Development Paradox - Where the heck are my shocks?
#45
Considering that WR was SHOCKED about the issue and what he discovered because of it, them promisimg to rectify, backing out of that, and then even said he was "done with bearnie" It says little of WR when he then goes and starts to sponsor m.net and continue his relationship with the alcoholic.

I develop and market solutions to the auto enthusiast community and have given Bernie the benefit of the doubt more than once as I know how hard it is to run a small operation catering to a nice market.
My shop guys know of him and vouched for him, lots of people here used his services and vouched for him. WR stepped in to assist and vouched for him and still no answer. Bernie couldn't possibly be bankrupt and a simple refund and return of my parts would have sufficed.
I just tried calling WR 800 number, and had my friend in the US try calling it, and it does not work anymore.
I rather not have to go buy new shocks for my BMW but at this point it seems to be the only option. Maybe Murphy's Law will kick in and that is what I need to do.

At best he should refund.

I cancelled Bernies vendorship almost 1 month ago and let his account and section ride to have matters resolved as he promised me for you guys. I could never as a forum admin / owner take some shops money just for the sake of having cash when I know you guys could get duped... F THAT

Clearing up missinformation spreading on this site
True. Probably because we're treated with respect and get a head-up if there is a problem. Regardless, I understand the ranting and Bernie getting his account nuked but not mine... I'm just trying to help.
It's no secret that Stewart Development had some delivery issues LAST YEAR BEFORE MY INVOLVEMENT. I am actively trying to get these old legacy issues resolved. To my knowledge there are only a few (three to be exact) that are still lingering... One of them a the guy sold his Miata so Bernie is refunding his money over 90-day span, one will ship Friday 9/16/11 (mc hammered's BMW), and one was a guys set of Honda shocks which he used a hammer to remove the spring-perches which destroyed the body & pistons. All of these orders were in a state of limbo (AKA: a mess) when I was brought in to help resolve, and with the exception of the Honda guy (who owes Steward Development money) I expect to be done with them by the end of Sept 2011.
The reality is the order & delivery process for Stewart Development has been fixed and works like a real business should. If you order a standard offering from our site you will get what you paid for within the stated time-frame (unless something is damaged beyond repair). But, if you go off-grid and try to work a special deal it may fall through the cracks and a mess may happen... Use the website. It works, as does our 800 number and our email - however, emails are preferred.
I'm a business person who excels in process development that yields consistent and predictable results... I commit to the Miata community that what I have retooled works. In fact it has worked for over 35 new Weekend-Racer.com customers who have purchased 86 individual shock rebuilds via our website over the past 4-months.
This should clear-up the status of everything old that I know about.
John
PS: As always, if you have an outstanding issue with Stewart Development that I may not know about please contact me at Shocks@Weekend-Racer.com so I can figure it out and get it fixed. - which I will if given the chance.

As of today neither of those guys are members here. I am guessing after I revoked Steward Development's sponsorship he had little to no interest in returning here, likely scared for his e-life.
I will say that if anyone gets duped from here on forward jokes on them. Until they pay what they owe (boondocks lol) they should stay in a fixed pattern and stop pushing more shock sales.

I bought one of the sets of revalved used Bilsteins which Bernie posted for sale here on MT back in July. I sent the payment through Paypal on July 19th. On August 2nd he emailed me saying that he was running behind on orders but mine would be shipped out that Friday (the 5th). I received no further correspondence over the next 2 weeks so I sent another email on August 15th asking about my order. He replied that they were being finished that very day and they would be sent out on the 16th. I received an email from usps that a shipping invoice had been created. The tracking number status had not changed to shipped or even in possession of usps by the 23rd of August so I sent an email to Bernie asking about the status. He did not reply. I sent another email the morning of August 30th asking what was going on. By the afternoon of September 1st I had not received a reply so I decided to file a paypal case since the 45 day dispute cutoff was looming. In less than an hour after filing the case I receive an email from Bernie saying that he had some health problems and the shocks were going to be shipped "today or tomorrow." Well that came and went without any progress on the tracking system. Finally on Sepember 7th he dropped them off at the post office and emailed me asking me to close the paypal dispute. I said screw that, he had free use of my money for 6+ weeks while I waited so imho putting a hold on it for just a few days isn't a big deal. Well I finally received the shocks in the mail today. They look good and he also included the shock dyno graph printout with them. So I canceled the dispute and I'm glad that I finally have the product that I paid for almost 2 months after I sent the money. I just hope they were worth the wait when I get them on the car.

Were you non-responsive or not? Non-response always gives cause for contract termination and usually damage reimbursement. No one is bitching because it took too long, they are bitching because of non-response.

I agree 100% Rick

Personally I really have no concern for Steward Development's "e-life", he made his bed with poor customer service... But to purposely sound korny, there is a new sheriff in Steward Development-Town and that $hit ain't gonna fly with me around. I'm the stinking NASA National Spec Miata Director, it's not like I'm an outsider to the Miata community!
Like I said if people order thru the website they'll get their shocks (and be very pleased) or you'll get a refund, cuz I keep the money until they ship.
