Default rear lower control arm shock mount captive nut striped!

does anyone know the size of this nut? I was installing suspension tonight and tore that captive nut loose. I've managed to free the nut from the metal housing but I can not get a wrench on it so I gave up. I guess I'll need to open the access port a little but I really don't want to. I would consider shaving a wrench if I knew the size just to see if I could get access without cutting the control arm. anyone done this?

It is a square nut. Not sure if if it has a size. You will need to open up a little access area to hold it while reinstalling the bolt.

Thanks! I found on another thread it is 17mm which is what I Thought. I'm going to trim the control arm, and hopefully I have some old Audi control arm hardware that will fit correctly

well cutting out the nut was pretty easy. The bad news is that it happened on the driver side!

a cheap husky air chisel to remove the metal that holds the nut in place is KEY to making this job painless. trying to deform it by hand is a total waste of time, even if it takes you a hour to do Home depot and back.
