Questions about 6-speed and Torsen's Strength
Over this winter I plan on dropping out my 4.3 Torsen and swapping in 3.63 gears while replacing the bearings and seals. While it is out I also plan on reinforcing the arms with the KPower weld-in reinforcement tabs. From there I was hoping to run the M&H 7.5/23.0-15 bias ply slicks, and I'm already running an unknown year 6-speed transmission. I've also got a full set of poly bushings to install during the winter as well.
The question is: Will this be too much power and grip for the reinforced Torsen or 6-Speed to handle launching? I know I'm going to shift gently to keep the trans happy regarding 4th gear. I'm currently right under 300 whp and slightly higher wtq if I had to guess (GT2560R maxed out on E85). I'm hoping to make this work through next summer before swapping over to something stronger the next winter. Maybe just lower the launch control and baby it out of the line? I did a quick search before this and it seems the axles are going to be a bigger issue, but not at my power level. Any input on what will break first and what power level would be appreciated. I'm also assuming no/minimal wheel hop.
