Help, is my Diff blown? *stuck on road*
EDIT/UPDATE
Well turned out NOT being the diff. The 4 bolts connecting driveshaft to diff came out. 1 was still barely on there, DSD was swinging artounjd hitting ****. Took it off and it towed smooth.
Now just to source the bolts. Not broken diff FTW
Well I was just driving down my road and I heard a horrible sound like a transmission fell out. I immediately stopped turned around togo back to my house (less than a mile away) make it about half way and the car locks up. Transmission shifts fine, but I can't move it in neutral, etc. I think my Torsen blew?
Going to use my buddies truck to tow it, but how much damage can I do towing it even if it won't move in N?
Can I break the tranny?

lol well that sucks so you cant push it at all? first thing to check does the car run and will it sit there on its own or does it try to continue moving forward. If the car does not try to move forward while in N then your diff is the likely culprit, if it does then its probly your tranny. Either way something is gonna come apart etc for inspection and RR i am sure.

Car runs fine, shifts fine. Even tried to back up when in reverse, then just hits wall. Wont roll more than a few inched forward or backward. Can't push at all in N. When I put in forst to drive it starts normal then backend makes horrible sounds. I guess I plan to put it in neutral and tow with truck. It's gonna sound nasty forcing it. As long as I can't break anything else?

Diff. You're gonna destroy your tires if you try to "tow" it by just pulling it down the road with a truck (which is what it sounds like your considering based on your initial post, if not my bad.)

I too vote for trays, steel, or crappy spare tires if you have them, you'll flat spot them for sure.
You won't break anything else since, if for whatever reason, you manage to get it to turn the drive shaft, the transmission will act as if it's in neutral. All the force you're feeling is the mangled pinion teeth trying and failing to mesh with the rack. Or vise versa. On mine the pinion teeth stripped out.
