Default Brake decision before DE event Oct 16

I currently have hawk blacks with a bout 50% life left. These have been through one DE event last year. Obviously I drive like an old lady

My rear rotors need to be replaced. The slots are nearly worn down. I have a fresh set of axxis ultimate brake pads for the front and rear.

Option 1: replace rear rotors and continue to use black pads until worn out. Pad may be worn uneven base on rotor wear.

Option 2: replace rear rotors and change front and rear pads to axxis pads. (front rotors have been on since last DE event)

Option 3: replace front and rear rotors and pads

Is it best to change rotors anytime you are changing pads?

If you are using the ame pad you don't have to machine he rotors. The only time you would need ot replace the rotors would be when they are under the minimum spec or will be after machining. Some Spec miata guys will machine them to the min and toss them after the pads are done.

Now what would be best would be to have a set of track pads and rotors. This way you can have an agressive set of pads for the track and a set of not so agressive pads for the track.

Have a great day,
Jared

I've found that with Hawk pads it doesn't matter which pad you put on with old rotors. I run DTC-60 on the track and street in my turbo car and I have no plans on changing any of that.

Ok, it sounds like I should just replace the rotors that need replacing and continue to use the hawks until they are used up.

Thanks

Don't forget about the lip that will be formed. So sooner or later you may need to have them machined.
