He's wanting to shorten them because spring rub and doesn't want to go in there twice. Basically lop off every inch he's not ever going to use, and call it a day.
Nope. Because you can shorten the 5x sleeves to that ridge which would still allow use of roughly a 2" front extended hat and a 4" rear extended hat. Neither of these extensions will you ever need on a miata with a bilstein based shock because you will contact the body far before you max out travel using extended hats of this size.
I'm concerned about spring rub, not top hat clearance.
I ended up lopping off 5 threads from my front sleeves. I have room for even more. I haven't driven my car significantly yet but that should be enough to prevent any spring rub.
Just a revalve option. They seem competent but I may be the test subject if I go with them.
The guy who used to do mine isn't doing them anymore, and Henderson won't do our lowly shocks now either. RE Suspension (below) is $300 for four Bilsteins so that isn't bad.
I'm also talking to Inertia Labs.
There are a lot of shops that'll do revalves but seems like a crap shoot.
A sticky on revalve options and outcomes might be useful(?)
Was only able to get -1.1 camber on the front at 12.75 ride hight.
Consider extended ball joints. I wore mine out within a year likely from aggressive track driving. I got them from FM and the manufacturer covered them under warranty. Easy camber plus a bit of track width to even out with the rear.
From memory, I have about -3° front with a ~4.25" pinch weld ride height. The alignment shop was getting maybe -1.8° with the stock ball joints.
It's honestly a bit late for me at this point. I kinda needed them this weekend, and it sounds like they would have been here if i had gotten any response when i started contacting them. Oh well.
I got my msm bushings the other day. It was an option with the Maruha mounts from japan. Ncyo-28-775 and not-28-776. Upper and lower bushings....edit...and now I know this is not the part you wanted.
