Is anything known about ProShift Autozone Clutches?
Its probably just cheap crap, but I can't find info anywhere and am tempted to buy one for science. Does anyone know anything about the ProShift clutches from Autozone? Supposedly this one holds enough for a stock block turbo build AND comes with a lifetime warranty. With promo code, its only $286 delivered.

Curious to hear what people have to say.

No personal experience with that clutch. But in general you get what you pay for.
Sure it has a lifetime warrenty, but that means R&R the transmission and waiting for a warranty claim. Personally I don't want to be pulling transmissions more then absolutely necessary (would be easier if I had a hoist).

Obviously I'm a little biased but I'm also always curious about a bargain.
I just don't feel like it's cheap enough to be worth the experiment, especially coming into the holiday season when all of us Miata vendors have proven ones on sale.

I agree with everything said above and will add:
Who is actually responsible for the lifetime warranty?
If you pull the defective clutch in a parking lot 500 miles from home, walk into the local Autozone, and slap that bad boy on the counter, will they just hand you a new one and send you on your merry way? Or will they look at you funny, print off the actual warranty terms, and show you the address in Pyongyang that you need to send a certified letter to get a refund for the value of your clutch, amortized over an expected clutch lifetime of six months? Refunds typically issued within 6-8 weeks, barring any extenuating circumstances…
My personal rule is the more time it takes me to swap a part, the more I’m willing to spend on that part. Give me the choice between a $20 name-brand clutch pilot bearing and a free Autozone-brand bearing and I’ll pay the $20 any day.
I also apply this rule based on the cost of failure. If a ten cent bolt will destroy my engine or cause catastrophic brake failure, I’m buying the best I can find.

I work at Autozone currently. The proshift clutches have a lifetime warranty that is processed through autozones system; meaning if you have a failed clutch kit and can prove its the right brand autozone will swap you on the spot (assuming it's one they have in stock) no monetary exchange needed.
