I'm not recommending it, I'm saying that people have used it in their 5 and 6 speeds. The Amsoil tech informed me it can be used in our transmissions, but it will not shift as smoothly as the manual trans/transaxle lube or the regular synthetic gl5 75w90 lube. He said some people use it to provide more protection for the gears under high hp/high rpm circumstances, such as open track racing. I personally have not used it in either of my 5 or 6 speeds. I've used the manual trans/transaxle fluid and the gl5 lube.

GL-5 is specifically precluded from use with yellow metal synchros.

Right, and I'm not going to use it because its a GL-5 and I've already jacked the 3rd gear synchro on gl-5. I went through this **** on my VW too; I'd be a certified moron to do the same thing and expect different results.

Edit, was slow on the reply. So don't use the Motul for now, and try a gl4 lube.
BTW, you'd probably see an Amsoil shipment within 2 days of ordering. They have warehouses across the US. Keeps shipping cost down as well.
IMHO, I wouldn't run Synchromesh in a transmission that sees track duty, it's too light. Another IMHO, if it was the lube, you would have experienced noticeably notchy shifting from the synchros not working properly.
Just got off the phone with Amsoil tech. Their GL4 and GL5 75w90 lubes are useable in a brass synchro transmission. Either one is going to perform well, and not to mix the GL4 and GL5 lubes.

I had been using Redline 75-90 with 2 oz. of GM #1052358 friction modifier but recently switched to my favorite Amsoil 75-90 with the same modifier added and its better. The Redline was clunky until warm then fairly smooth when hot. The Amsoil shifts better cold than the redline ever did when hot and once hot, it's nearly as slick as my S2000 shift feel.
Edit: This time I actually used the GL-5 gear. I have some GL-4 Amsoil 75-90 MTL I'll try on next change.
