They're no free lunch, throttle response and idle is amazing with a FMIC, but the part throttle noise got on my ****.
I converted the lot to a coldside setup, LOTS less power, but much more civilised, the car was too extreme/noisy for what was 98% of the time a commuting vehicle.
I couldn't/can't afford a turbo setup - yet.

With the IC, I can spin the knackers off the blower, outlet temps are 150+degC, but the FMIC drops that to just above ambient.
No FMIC means those blower outlet temps are now my IAT's. On track and spinning the blower much MUCH slower (1.5:1 rather than 2:1 pulley ratio), I see IAT's up to 150degC.
So you're severely power limited due to det
But you'd have exactly the same with a non intercooled turbo vs an intercooled turbo, except you'd get more power in both scenarios as the parasatic losses are lower and their efficiencies are higher.

This is why Im feeding a blower with an intercooled BIG turbo, with E85 and preblower E85.
Low compression to fight det, and only a big enough blower pulley to get the turbo going at an acceptable rate.
the other option is a sprintex/sc14 mounted hotside and then into a V mount, still feeding it with a monster turbo of course.

After many a day of driving the suckercharger, I'm still a fan. 5psi of boost never felt sooo, uhh, well it's hard to tell it's there. But the butt dyno says I at least gained some sort of power. The needle at 5psi on the boost gauge is cool though.

Breaking news: Supercharger comes off this weekend.
All in all, it was a good experience lol. Removing the supercharger has nothing to do with it's performance, I have decided to sell the NB and go back to an NA.
The NB is great, but in the end I just like the NAs better. So if anyone reading this wants a great SC for their NB (Think it works on NA too since I have an NA TB dummy too) get at me!
Just need to find that perfect one

Circumstances have changed. I live within biking distance to school. And will be attending school, all year round, for the next 2-3 years. So I don't need a fancy NB. I want a car I can play with on the weekends, or go out and drive to take a break from studying or whatever. Plus when I graduate I will hopefully turn it into my toy, and get a practical car for a daily. The NB doesn't really fit into that plan, as I consider it more of a compromise between daily and fun. I want a daily, and a fun. And since I don't need a daily now, I'll get a fun

So what makes them more fun? I just don't get it. They have less bracing, less creature comforts, are marginally lighter, and the interior is not as spiffy.
I'm not criticizing, I'm just genuinely curious if anyone can actually articulate their opinion on choosing one vs the other. I've asked this before, and most just say the same old " its a better miata, but nb is better car" line which to a certain extent makes sense, but is very vague.
