I bought a rust free NA and brought it to New England
Hey Folks,
It's probably about time I actually posted something here. I bought a 1991 just about a year ago in Alabama. It blew a head-gasket a couple of months later while under the care of my girlfriend and we had to tow it all the way from Alabama to Connecticut. Turns out a Wrangler on 35" tires isn't the most comfortable long haul tow truck. Anyway, once back safe in CT it was off to a local machine shop who took months to have the time to start work on the block. Somewhere in the middle of that I decided to buy a house, so I didn't pick it up until a couple months after the work was finished. The car is finally in the new garage and I am actually starting to get some work done. I've been buying everyone's used 1.6 stuff this whole time prepping up for a turbo build. Once the block is back together I plan on running NA for at least a few months to get everything sorted before switching over to Megasquirt (haven't bought or built it yet), learning to tune, then swapping injectors and spark. My main goal right now is to get my little car running before my room mates 1UZ swapped 300zx (should be easy), and eventually make as much power.
Its blurry because its fast

Yup.
The drive was only supposed to be like 20 hours total, but was so brutal it took three or four long days to.
Best part was getting halfway through the trip and having the batteries die one us (both of em, in rural North Carolina). Managed to limp to a hotel after getting a jump and had to get the Jeep towed at around midnight. Left the trailer unhitched with the Miata sitting on it in front of the hotel.

Not gonna lie.... it would have taken longer for me to have built up my original motor, but I kinda wish I'd kept it and rebuilt that instead of selling it and building a different motor out of convenience. Not like it's a big deal or anything, but it has a nice feeling to it lol.
