Basic low boost build: Noob does it all wrong.

Leak tested to 15psi last night. Only leak was through the evap purge solinoid, so I unplugged that and capped the nipple (also shot a cap with a ziptie on it across the garage).
Waste gate seems to crack around 4psi and be open at 5. Which is way lower than I expected from one of these, but I am missing about 3mm of pre-load because of the adapter bracket. It still has to be pulled to get onto the waste gate arm though. That said, this will be a good boost level for track days as I am still a noob for those.
I have an MBC on the way for testing and will likely install EBC over the winter.

And people say miatas aren't practical.
I'm super jelly of your build. I going with a td04 as well. Thought I was ready to start installing it and then developed a 1 qt a week oil leak. Working on that now and then still have to install MS and rebuild the turbo.
Hopefully have it all together this October and we can compare your kraken (wish I had bought one) to my ebay...
Subbed for inspiration.

Which ebay manifold fits a TD04? Or did you get one of the T25 TD04s?
Also, Plopped in the NXS MBC I ordered (it showed up yesterday) and replace the alternator belt cause it got mangled when it ate some loose wiring (tie up your loose ends folks...). Took it to work this morning and did some datalogging. My tune in cruise is getting close, boost is rich still since I am hitting untuned parts of the map again. But, I am amazed by the boost threshold/spool. I seriously never guessed it would be this good. Full 7.5psi by 2800, 2psi at 1700. Everything I could have hopped for and then some.
This was a 4th gear pull.

It was an eBay log mani for a "top mount td04". I have some pics in my "shopping list" thread of it. Its not nearly as pretty and was basically the same price.
That's the reason I chose a Td04... dat spool. I don't want to rebuild the engine or change the trans anytime soon. So I wanted to stay under that power limit while getting the power as soon as possible.
Your spool is great and I hope mine is at least close to that good.

My 2871 on a built motor (84mm slugs) hits the 10-14 psi range about as quickly on the Kraken setup 3 inch exhaust with vvt as my '2560' did on the FM setup modified with an EWG and 2.5 FM exhaust on the 99 head. I.e. in the 3100-3500 range.
So....... 90 low n slo shoulda got the kraken for teh spoolz

Yeah, it pretty much kills the whole "superchargers build boost fast" argument. My M45 topped out around 7.5psi, and didn't get there until around 5,000 rpm. I get that much boost from my T3 by 3,000rpm, and nearly double that much by 3,500 rpm. The charge is also much cooler.
Slowly getting everything dialed in. Tuning manually and it is turning out super well. Just take a data log on the way in to work and make changes, then log on the way home.
Also, boost cut is quite the experience! Turned the MBC up half a turn and Had cut set to 178kpa (I want to try to dial in the 169kpa row). Accidentally hit 185. Brought the boost controller down 1/4 turn and it peaks out around 175 now, gonna take out another 1/16th or so and see where that lands me.

Currently topping out around 170kpa. Can you guys take a look at my tune and let me know how all this seems? Make sure I am not doing anything stupid?
1.6, TD04, Kraken Manifold, 2.5" downpipe into 2" OBX exhaust. Ebay 27x5.5x2.5 intercooler with turbulators. Running 93 octane. MS3x. Just want a quick peek before I go full send and shoot for 200kpa.

Fake dyno plots are in. There is no such thing as a flat road around here, so the blue graph is very slightly uphill and the red one is slightly downhill for most of it, then pitches steeper down at the end. These where also done in 3rd since there is nowhere straight/flat enough, long enough, and out of the way enough to do a 4th gear pull to redline anywhere nearby that I know of.
Gonna call it 180rwhp and 165ftlbs. But the part I am most impressed by is how flat the torque is. Even with my waste gate feeding right off the turbo outlet (man that intercooler is causing a lot of pressure drop! I need to move that line.)

Yep, looks pretty much exactly like mine (the blue plots anyway). I have my boost turned up to 12-13psi on a T3, but I have a more conservative timing map than you. The 1.6L motor really seems to run out of steam at higher RPM and boost, the head just can't flow that much air. You hit diminishing returns pretty quick.
That said, it's a really fun car with 180 reliable HP.

Working on doing research for rebuilding an engine.
I have a 1990 1.6 Auto and am going to use the pistons and exhaust cam from it if they are good. It looks like the oil control rings for the auto pistons are 3mm instead of four? At least according to rock auto? Can I mix oil control rings from one set with the top two rings from a higher end set?
Yeah, yeah, I know, building 1.6s is frowned uppon, but I am just planning a cheap, rods only, one for learning on so I don't mess up anything important.
