The Better Bilstein Ebay Coilover Thread

I understand it will
compress the same. I’m talking about coming off of a bump when the spring isn’t compressing. I thought the longer the spring the less likely it was to unseat from the perches when the spring did not have a load on it, kind of like using helper springs to take up excess space. Does that make sense?

Awesome. Any particular reason why most other 550f/350r setups run 7" springs at similar heights as I'm looking to run? I'm assuming those setups are probably maxed out with the spring sitting at the very bottom of the collar.
Trying to see if there's maybe something else I'm missing here in terms of advantage with a 7" spring, but if coil bind isn't an issue and my ride height seems to be about median from all the other builds i looked at, i don't know what other reason i'd go with a 7" vs a 6".

How do you guys keep the sleeves from rotating when you must adjust higher than 0 preload on the spring? I was thinking of drilling a hole at the top or bottom of the sleeve and putting a set screw but I'm afraid of starting a crack or something and having the sleeve peel like a banana on me.
I'm working on getting my fenders rolled and would like to set the height to the top of the range to avoid fender-tire contact, but can't seem to rotate them ******* higher. I lifted the car and I can rotate a few turns after getting some preload, but not much more than that, still sitting pretty low (I mean, not SLAMMED obviously but not the gap I'm looking for).
I did tape as much as I could between shock and sleeve, the max I could put in and still have the sleeve slide on, I also added a thermostat oring and some tape under the circlip to keep it centered from the bottom, so it's snug, but not locked.

So what's the solution for spring gaps on droop?
..perfect timing... I just dropped the car on the ground, here's the setup:
90 NA
B8 HARD-S (NB) Front NC12-34-700D, Rear NC12-28-700D
NB top hats all around, stock NB top hat bushings.
ES 9.6103G spring top bushings
Allstar sleeves on stock C-Clip grooves. Rears trimmed 3 threads to drop below the shock body top, fronts are good without trimming
Front is 8" 450lb, Rear is 7" 300lb
5Xracing 36mm blue bump stops
On the bench, I just snugged the lower perch up to the spring then installed. Initial ride height is way high:
7-1/4" Rear, 7-3/8" Front (pinch welds)
15" Rear, 15-1/8" Front (fender to hub center)
Shooting for 13-1/2" Rear, 13" Front (don't bust my ***** on that, this isn't a hard core anything plus that's basically all I can get on these sleeves in the rear).
So, obviously I had to lower the perches, now I have 2" of gap at full droop. I feel like the cheapest solution is helper springs and that's about it? Who's the current fav reseller online? Need springs and the alignment washer thing in the middle.

Pssst......every single spec Miata on the planet has it's springs dangle. I've never heard of or seen a problem. Take a look for yourself.

Now if it would stop raining, I could actually try them out......

One stupid question, the Maruha top hats fit in the front? I think i read the ISC top hats require opening up the front hole to accommodate them, but I don't think i saw this being an issue with Maruha top hats. Assuming I got this right, will just order 4 of them since they're cheap enough. Saw your post about 15 pages back saying they're about right for the fronts but the rear depends. Going to measure everything over the weekend and confirm if they'll work for me.
