Stupid big brakes. Wilwood Superlite option for Trackspeed 11.75" kit
#83
Was searching for pictures of fitted Superlite kit (in anticapation) and came across this thread I had forgotten.....Very excited, waiting for kit to arrive.
Hopefully be able to answer my own question within the next 5 weeks (if engine rebuild goes according to plan!).
First race of the season on the 2nd September then the first race of the new Improved Production series with 2 x 30 minute races the weekend after....should have a good idea of the difference by then if everythng else holds together.
To be fair Im hoping to have the upgrade from 1600 to Sport rear calipers fitted by then too so may not be a direct comaprison.

We fitted the new Superlight calipers and the sport rears.
Removed Booster and used the standard MC but changed the pedal leverage ratio.
Apart from a strange need to pump the pedal hard for 3-5 times after left hand corners the brakes felt perfect. Very similar to the 11.75" dynapro setup but with considerably less heat.
Running wirth 3 season old NT01's against semi slick Hankook and other top level tyres, on low boost while checking diff cooler and pump, engine oil cooler and watching/logging oil pressures (we run a big end and ruined a crank last time from possible oil surge) we came 2nd in the first race, and would have been 2nd in the 2nd race but for a failed tyre valve stem causing a deflation and eventualyl a flat in the front left.
Annoying as the Orange TPMS system told what me was going on but the TPMS valve stem coming loose was the bloody cause!!!
Also annoyingly the top 4 cars were running illegal aero which we had removed to be "within the rules" only to find out the rules are "flexible" this first season to get numbers up....so moving to 18psi from 12 and refitting our aero, we should be in good shape to be at least fully competitive.

Another data point for wheel fitment. These stock 16's from my '04 do NOT fit. Spokes hit caliper.
May have more data points later. My shop talked about test fitting all the wheels they have around when I take the car in for an alignment. They are interested in these for their v8 customers.

Depending on offset they may fit. The lower the offset, the better your chances. The tight spot is the drop center of the wheel, so reducing offset (shifting the wheel outward) gains you clearance there. The old 15x9 +12 Exocet 6UL fits, for instance, but the normal +36 version does not.

Think I'm going to be giving you a call very soon.
This is what happens when you try and make sport brakes last at Sebring after EFR.
don't think those Alcon stickers are supposed to look like that.
Basically I've come over to the camp of "If something is a reliability problem on the track, just ask Andrew and do what he says".
