PnP BP6D head with Tomei Cams and SUB conversion - prepare for sticker shock
SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD
So I'm volleying between a bunch of things in life right now. Between job applications and surprise expenses, particularly my diff blowing, and property taxes this year I'm rethinking the direction I want to take with Smurfette. . I've had a reality check on my expectations and am, once again, on the fence of running this head I had built and stashed away for my last grand BP motor build.
Vlad already tuned this thing to be terrifying in 4th gear on street tires, and the only reason I'd run this head is for glory, but I care a little less and less about this these days. I have body work, a motor rebuild, and now fixing an OSGiken rear diff to worry about. More power is the last thing I need on the list. By relinquishing this head, it would liquefy assets to be used in more meaningful ways and get the car back on the road faster. I'm also trying to save for the KMiata trans kit, and this would be an ultimate chunk of that.
There is a lot invested into this head, so be prepared for sticker shock. It's more than your run of the mill head refresh, but less than a CNC Supermiata superduper head. This isn't for everyone, and the market that will appreciate this is small so please don't waste my time lowballing if you can avoid it. I've already lost money on this listing it.
All work, cleaning, assembly, adjustments have been done by Headgames Motorworks which is relatively popular in the Honda, Supra and Viper communities. They agreed to do this head even though it's not in their normal line of work. Check out their site for tons of pretty pictures: HeadGames Motorworks
Since my valves are in place, I can't take as awesome photos with lights shining through ports, so I did the best I could below:
Supertech +1mm O/S Valves and chamber work done.
Supertech +1mm O/S Valves and chamber work done.
Exhaust port with Supertech +1mm O/S valves
Intake port with Supertech +1mm O/S valves
Supertech Shim Under Bucket conversion
Lash has already been set for Tomei cams using post mounted shims. Bolt on and go.
Supermiata coolant reroute included
Supermiata coolant reroute included
Gaskets for refreshing VVT components included. Intake manifold gasket is included but not shown. Cam's are packed away until ready for use.
The cams come with a spec sheet and instructions, but here's an overview from the Tomei website:
I have receipts for all parts and services, so let's break it down:
$1910 - Headgames Motorworks 16FP package (port, install bronze guides, valve job, chambers, mill, assemble), setting lash, CC chamber
$710 - Tomei BP6D intake cam
$475 - Tomei NB BP Exhaust Cam
$381 - Supertech Valve Springs - Heavy Double MM18D
$321 - Supertech Cam Followers - CF-30-16LC
$212 - Supertech Exhaust Valves +1 O/S Inconel - MAEVI-1206
$143 - Supertech Intake Valves +1 O/S Stainless - MAIVN-1206N
$119 - Supertech lash caps
$249 - Supermiata Coolant Reroute
$50 - MiataRoadster VVT Rebuild Kit
_______________________________
$4,570 - Total Spent on parts/services
This does NOT include:
- Shipping for the various components ordered
- Taxes where applicable
- The cost of the donor head
If you made it this far, and are perhaps interested in saving you some dosh, and more importantly, time from waiting for parts and machine shops.....then let's talk.
For this fresh built / never installed / 0 mile VVT head for your wild motor build with all the components you could probably want to do to a head without going full custom,
I'd love to see $4300 for this thing.
Thanks for looking, and thanks for trying to get my Smurfette on a path to reliability.

I was hoping to use it as a direct comparison since the rest of my setup hasn't changed. My drivetrain is struggling though. I don't have a cage, and for a street car, I really don't need more power.

If you can set something up with vteckiller, he had expressed interest in the cams. Might be able to just cut a deal and relinquish the SUB conversion and shims with the Tomei if you plan on running stock stuff.
I personally would love to sell this ready to go. Things can be split after the fact if there's a second buyer in line.

I'd leave it to whomever wants to buy the head and split the parts to decide. I'd like to sell this whole. If you're interested in the reroute, if vteckiller still has interest in cams, and albumleaf just wants the valvetrain/head...you all might be able to come to an arrangement. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but there's a lot more going with my car on that has monpolized my immediate attention. I beg your understanding as a fellow buyer, seller and enthusiast.

Again, this is only going to be interesting to a small niche. This is probably for those who want an easy button to save time and a bit of cash, or literally have done everything else under the sun on a BP and can't go much further without headwork. Everyone is free to value their time and investment diffrently, what is right for you, may not be right for another. I appreciate any constructive comments, but I thought I was pretty transparent one takes the time to actually read the listing.
If folks want individual components bad enough, then it'd be pretty easy to step up to the plate and work out details amongst other interested parties.
