2018 Miatas at the gap - anyone going?
#143
I know - somehow we were both pretty alert at that hour. Psyber and the other photographers in our group went out around midnight to shoot the Milky Way with their expensive cameras. When we came back, the mice incident happened and everyone started packing and moving rooms. We were already planning on leaving at 7 or so, so we just took off east and went through Pigeon Forge. Interesting portion of that drive has a complete 360 road that transitions into a tunnel. Check it out: https://goo.gl/maps/7AsHtqYdMkD2
It was good meeting all of you and associating faces/names/screennames/builds. We should really set up a MT-specific run ahead of time next year.

It was a great time and was good to meet all of you.
Thanks for your generosity and help with the relays. I've got my work cut out for me checking the harness for melted wires and problems.

The weather made it interesting, but I had a great time on my first MATG. It was great finally putting names and faces to many people here. Made home around noon yesterday and spent the afternoon unloading between more rain and trying to dry out my tool boxes.

Made it home at about 9:30 pm last night. Trailered my car there, which turned out to be lucky for a local Miata guy that was down there with me as his alternator decided to quit on him on Saturday. I tore mine off to let him use once I loaded my car up and he made it back without issues.

I got to do a little investigative work in my wiring harness. I guess that's just one of those things when you have so much taken apart to put a roll cage in and not a lot of time before the event.

From the first Cherohala Run
Before the second Cherohala run, Shibby and I explored a bit before meeting up at Wendy's
Stars were out tonight near the Fontana Dam. The dam itself was brightly illuminated and produced a bunch of light pollution and there was fog, so this was taken stacking a couple exposures near the bridge/helipad around the corner.
Saturday night, an executive decision was made between James and I to leave immediately after our cabin was found to have mice. The remaining roomies where getting other accommodations so we bolted. Sixshooter this road, US441 from Cherokee to Gatlinburg, was definitely awesome at night.

Also, y'all did it right on that smaller group drive on the Cherohala loop. I had to lead about 50 cars, in my buddy's NB2, through the loop and the only person I knew was chief, lol.
Everyone here should also plan on AMP on Thursday for next year!

And we got a lot of service out of the CB radios, too. Very helpful for Psyber and I to communicate. Totally worth it. We got to chat while we were driving sometimes if it wasn't too curvy.
