cop conversion, no spark from ms?

cop conversion, no spark from ms?
short history, its a 99 engine in a 93 shell. ran well on stock ecu. started with megasquirt. while setting trigger angle, after 4-5 flashes, car wouldnt start anymore. on stock ecu, wouldnt start, culprit was burnt coil pack.
so i do a cop conversion, 1.6 ignitor hard wired to the coils. runs great on stock ecu, but on the ms i cant get any spark... megasquirt logs show rpm around 260 cranking, injectors firing, just no spark..
am i missing something here?

so referring to this
Megasquirt (V3.0 board) - Spark/ignition output
it says R37 and R38 slots should be bip373 on my ms it has tk20p in r38 it looked lifted off the heatsink, i tried to press it down and one of the leads cracked. may be able to solder back, but is this what would be burnt from coil driver? i dont mind replacing but dont want to waste time waiting for parts if its not suspect

ok so i went over all the cop wiring, its 100% accurate to the 1.6 wiring diagram in this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/useful-sa...writeup-12704/
when measuring voltage at the cop wiring, i see +12v on the positive and trigger wires with the stock ecu
with the megasquirt plugged in i get +12 on the positive but not on the trigger.
i also found an issue in the megasquirt wiring, pin 31 and 36 were on the spark a and b outputs, and it should be pin 6 and 36, so i switched those and gave it a crank but didnt fire.
hope to get more time to mess with it tommorrow or sunday....

You're all over the place. The car ran on stock coils + MS. Then you changed things, and it didn't anymore. So you put COPs on it, and it still didn't. Then you swapped ECUs, and... a coil i think? And it worked with both COPs and oem coils on stock ecu. And then oem coils + MS again. But COPs only work on stock ecu, not MS.
Do i have this all right? I'm getting whiplash.

heres a summary,
it was on stock coils and ms, it was running very rough due to what i assumed was the trigger angle. after a few trigger angle adjustments, it wouldnt run anymore. i put back the stock ecu, and it was running rough. diagnosis here was 1 coil went bad.
i switched to cops and back to stock ecu. it runs like stock on cops and stock ecu. it doesnt spark with megasquirt and cops. im testing by using a spark plug wire between plug and a coil and using a timing light. i tried another set of coils/igniter, and it ran but rough. this running rough was its only firing on 2 cylinders. i didnt know at the time it wasnt the trigger angle setting.
i contacted diyautotune, and they said test the voltages at the end of wiring at the cops. the difference being, with the ms, i dont get any voltage on the trigger wire. so i looked at the db37 to ecu connection, and pins 31 and 36 were wired to the ignition pins (1G 1H on the ecu connector). so i swapped pin 6 which assembly manual says should be used with pin 31 which should control iac.

updating,
unplugged everything, testing trigger wire the ms to ignition outputs were correct before. pin 31 and 36. 5v on each. checked at the igniter factory plug, still 5v. checked at end of cops wires still 5v. when plugging in the cops, voltage drops to 1.76 on each. they need a 5v signal to fire if im correct.
so you guys are correct the cops/wiring are the issue.
so my question, where did i go wrong in my wiring..
wire colors are on the factory igniter wiring (gutted an igniter to pnp)
trigger for 1+4 runs to brown/yellow
trigger 2+3 runs to brown
12v runs to blue
ground runs to black, and grounds on firewall
tach splices together all 4 coils, runs to yellow/blue and black/white

so it seems the cop i have need 12v to trigger. the ms only gives them 5v. the stock ecu gives them 12v.
can i just do a pullup to 12v instead of 5v on the megasquirt? i tried to move the resistor pulling off the 5v above the proto area to the 12v leg of U5, but the output was still 5v after powering up on jimstim.
