Think I'm Close to Turbo Time
I bought a 90 miata last summer with high miles, bad paint, and a screen door for for a top. A new top, vynl wrap, and no mechanical issues I'm ready to make my miata turbo debut.
I've been doing some research here and elsewhere and already made an account on miata.net. (although admittedly I'm not very active) Right now though I really just know enough to be dangerous, so I'm here for knowledge, experience, and guidance.
I got, what I believe to be, some realistic goals and money budgeted to achieve them. I will make another post soon ish with more details on this but I'm just wanting to make my street legal miata go-kart more fun with a power bump up. The two most important things to me will be CHEAP and RELIABLE. I'm not looking for huge numbers or heavy (if any) track usage.
Less about the car and more about me:
I'm 29 this month and I've been married for nearly 6 years. I did computer repair for 10 years and cell phone repair during that same time for two years. I've owned my own business and after that didn't work I became a truck driver for over a year. Now I work for the company at their main terminal in Kentucky. Originally from the Mississippi gulf coast I hate the kentucky winters but laugh at the kentucky summers. I mostly spend my off time in front of my computer playing da-vidya-gamz. I also still do some repair work here and there or the occasional computer build but lately it's mostly been cb radios and cheap tvs. I also like spending time at the range, the occasional hike, and finding new roads to conquer in the mighty miata.
I will likely have a turbo parts shopping list posted up later today (I work nights right now) so the build details an be hammered out there. I know how often you guys get dumb post here about "budget builds" and I hope I don't end up falling into that category. See you guys around...

Pic's of the screen door top?
I'm on miata.net, but don't have enough posts to sell a thing.
Ton's of options and resources for quality budget builds. Check out Kmo25's thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...ighlight=kmo25
You'll get the resonating vibe that, generally, one should expect to pay more than you think for quality, because you'll have spent a lot more trying to fix cobled together bandaids. Don't get sucked into the Begi/MaxG trap.

Don't think i have any pics of the old top... but if you can imagine a rear "window" made entirely of black gorilla tape save for one 8 inch square in the middle and tape on the tops where the frame rubs hard against the top (you know the place) then yea. Basically the LEAST water proof top possible. Made installing the new one a breeze though, we just took a knife to it and trashed it. And if i may be so bold: Moss miata is an awesome place to get a top. they only carry quality tops and I had a small hick up with my order and they went above and beyond to fix it. 100% satisfied with Moss motors.
Edit: figured I might as post up some pics of the wrap job:
Vvivid Matte Metallic Lava red, and Gloss Black vynl.
