MSPNP2 - Swapped a 1.8 from a 1.6 wiring
Hello all,
I'm helping my friend finish his 1.8 swap into his NA. He had a tired 1.6, and bought a lower mileage 1.8 and put some of the turbo pieces on and put the motor in the car.
I wrote a 1.8 basemap to the vehicle, but am having issues with the car starting (and running like garbage) I'm hoping you guys can suffice.
From my understanding, he purchased a FM swap kit, and is running the 1.6 coils, firing order of the 1.8, on the MSPNP2 harness that was wired for the 1.6
The car has trouble starting, but when it does, runs like garbage and does not hold an idle. (I think the idle is due to the tps being unplugged. currently has a 1.6 pigtail on it, need to source a 1.8 or tap holes for FM's TB adapter)
Would any of you guys be able to give me any advice as far as the wiring/swap for the megaqsuirt? I'd like to help get it to idle, and then have him take it to a reputable tuner.
Thanks!
Edit: Would like to rename the thread and take out the "wiring" portion, but no worries. If a mod can clear it up great! If not, so be it!

See if it's running on all 4 cylinders (pull one spark plug wire at a time, if you ever pull a wire and the engine does not change at all, that cylinder isn't firing). If all 4 cylinders are firing, then it's likely the tune, and we'd need the tune file and a log to help you.

Pulling a plug wire would not affect the other paired cylinder, it will still fire. I never really thought about risk of damaging the coil, I know several people who have used this method of diagnosis without issue, should wear gloves for shock protection but I have done it several times with no repercussions.
