Hi From Tallahassee Florida
Hello from Tallahassee Florida.
Just bought a 97 Touring package NA for $2400 with great paint and a big stack of maintenance records. Always liked these things, never thought I'd actually buy one. Has been fun driving it to work the last few days.
Joined the forums because despite being fun this thing is a bit too slow and has a bit too much body roll. I also own an LS1 swapped FC RX7, but my plans for the NA are much more conservative. I have a box of used turbo parts kicking around and some experience with megasquirt tuning on an EDIS-ignition'd 5.0 that once lived in my FC.

Thanks for the welcome! I live on the Parkway.
No plans for anything other than fun street driving at this point. Got it to replace my old Tacoma as the go-to-work-when-its-hot-out car.
Short term plans are some new wheels & tires (I really like the 6ul everyone seems to rave about, or something like the Crown Vic mesh wheels that used to be on my FC) and suspension. I haven't had it up in the air yet but first thing after basic maintenance will be replacing whatever suspension parts are worn out. Was stupidly just about the last thing I did on my FC.
Then hopefully sway bars and some shocks/springs or coilovers. I put together a budget Koni Yellow setup on a 240sx a few years back, and that went well so I'll probably go with piecing together a budget Bilstein setup. Also like the Fortune Auto's I have on my FC, but Miata's seem to have a lot more/better options. Maybe I'll really end up liking this car and drop the money on some Xida coilovers...
I've got a Tial BOV and wastegate in a box somewhere, and I figure thats a good excuse to start piecing together a turbo setup. Something conservative. Had lots of fun wiring up my 302 for a Microsquirt and getting that working.
All in all, my only definite plan is to lurk the parts for sale section.
I'll take and post some pics later.

Yep I had just stumbled across the sticky for that in the Classifieds. Looks like a crazy good deal, $1500 for the basic kit and you even get a full exhaust. Trying to avoid the backwards power-first, chassis-second approach I was guilty of on my last fun car build, but then again...

An update: put a deposit on an MKTurbo kit and am buying a Supermiata clutch he had sitting around. Installed some delrin door bushings (car was missing a rubber one...?) to make my doors a little harder to close. Car is still otherwise stock.
Spent last weekend putting a new 8.8 rear end in my RX7, gotta have that working so I can get to work while the Miata is down. Would have been today but my trans slip yoke is stuck in some snowy hell hole. I now have a spare Turbo II RX7 diff but getting that to work in the MX5 seems like more trouble than its worth.
How far back were you here? They've done a lot of municipal remodeling especially south of FSU, but its still too hot and too far from the beach to be worth being so hot.

I read all those M.net reviews of:
"OMG these are so amazing"
"These bushings stiffen the chassis by 84%"
"The car handles so much better"
"These fixed all my car's rattles"
"The radio has a lot more base now"
"My car is much more areodynamic with these bushings"
"I gained 15 hp"
"I had sex with 6 men the day I installed these"
etc, etc, etc...
So I bought the stupid mounts, and now it's hard to close my doors.
I left them in, only because I don't want to accept that I'm an idiot for buying them in the first place.

I know exactly what you mean. Whatever the suspension equivalent of a butt dyno is, I don’t think mine can distinguish between these kind of small changes.
