Long *** day at work but was happy to see this when I came home. I hope to start mounting the transmission this weekend and maybe even get the motor back in the car very soon.
Defi 45psi boost gauge for what reason I don't know...wishful thinking I guess
IQ3 street dash
My tentative setup with the innovate wideband gauge. Also got the can cable to connect the MS ECU to the cluster. I just now need to figure out how to do the sensors -- oil temp, oil pressure, water temp etc. I just don't know which ones need to go to the ECU directly or which can be just sent to the IQ3 cluster. Let the reading continue. My upright showed up too so just need to order the ABS sensor so I can send the VSS to the ECU and then onto the cluster.

Got the ABS upright mounted. Managed to not **** any of the ball joints up so I was happy about that.
You can see the area requiring modification for the starter.
Nothing a grinder can't fix. This is my first attempt at using a grinder on anything so forgive the shitness.
Starter fits. I dont have an oscillating saw so I had to go with the box motif. So the gaps are a little larger around the starter but overall I think it came out ok.
Not super sure on this one...My starter isn't OEM but it bolted up fine to the old transmission. Should be fine either way. The other two bolts hold it pretty damn snug.
Just an overhead shot of the progress. Tomorrow Sixshooter is planning to come over and help me get the trans on the engine and put the bitch back in the car. More pictures of the install to follow.

My starter is only held on with 2 bolts cuz I ran a 1.6 5 speed, as I learned from Lars, standard procedure for a 6 speed swap. I know tons of cars that only have 2 bolts without issues.
Nice progress!

So got the clutch/flywheel mounted but hit a roadblock. Im retarded and can't find the gasket/dust shield that goes between the transmission and engine off the original trans. Sadly there is a gap so I will need the shield. Annoying because I was hoping to get the motor and transmission into the car. Anyways heres what the assembly looks like. The flywheel is a nice piece. Very happy with it thus far. Just have to wait on the shield. I ordered one online for cheep. Hopefully be here this week sometime.

Yeah, try not to get too excited. Small garage and I had to move the seat back and lean back out of the way for the picture or you would have seen more of me.
We were missing some little parts and a special socket that prevented more progress.

Finally got the transmission mounted. Clutch alignment tool was off so thanks to sixshooter and eyeballing the bitch we had success.
Motor Finally in! Also got the correct SADFab bracket in. Looking good.
Some underneath shots of the gear selector rod and transmission support. Definitely more than a one man job but we were able to get it mounted fairly easily.
And the gear selector. With just the transmission in and obviously no hydraulics the selector feels awesome. Cant wait to get the motor running and feel it in action. Today was a big hurdle and really thankful for sixshooter, ryan g, and miata2fast for stopping by and helping me out. Definitely pumped about the progress.
