Default What do I need?

Hello everyone my daily is a 350z but I have just bought a 2001 Mazda MX5 1.8 vvt svt. This will be my turbo project build, After reading some threads I feel I have bought the wrong engine to add boost is this correct or can it be done well and How?

My long term plan is to do a fully forged build but for the time being I want to turbo the stock motor. I want to get a turbo that is sufficient for when I do forge the engine, I have been looking at the GT2860RS is this too much for the stock motor?

It's our way of saying that this site is a pleathora of turbo Miata knowledge. Search and read. We don't spoon feed.

You're asking a lot of the most basic questions that can be asked, that have been covered a million times and people get kind of annoyed with that. Read up on the site, search, and when you stumble onto someone doing something you like check to see if they have a build thread. That will answer a lot of questions for you.

Several years back people kind of avoided the VVT motors because the pre-VVT stuff was simpler, cheaper to make work, and we didn't know how what we were missing. Since Megasquirt 3 came out, the VVT motors are pretty much universally accepted to be superior in every way, at least among anyone that knows what they're talking about.

GT2860's have been an option for most miata turbo kits since god created the miata on the 8th day of the world. It's an entirely acceptable option, but if you're starting a fresh build involving a fully built motor, I don't think you'd get many recommendations for this turbo.

Im just used to FB groups when you create a post and get an answer or answer someone else's question, I asked two questions, What turbo and if I had made the right choice in engine, Hardly being spoon fed but ok.

We are not FB. What works there does not work here.

On Facebook, the people with low IQs don't tire of answering identical questions thousands of times over.

If I were you, I'd look into getting a GT2560 instead.

Thanks for the advice, Changed my mind been looking at the EFR 6258 with a Kraken cast manifold, But first is the rust repair which is currently being done this week, And then the ecu, Adaptronic or MS3 can't decide all boils down to cost and features.
