All right, that does it I am junking this thing and doing a badass beat proof 12k rpm FA!
Faaaak no

I was mostly thinking for the noise suppression on the signal wires to the MS. To keep any weird issues with my ignition from getting back to the ECU somehow, I am just paranoid right now.

I plan to weld the bracket to the top of an old stock coil bracket, so I can utilize the 2 rear valve cover mounting bolts. Then I will weld some sort of mounting tab for the m6 bolt hole near the PCV valve. I think the tab will be the only weak point, we'll see how it holds up. Noise ordinance in my area cut me off at 4 yesterday until 9 tomorrow.

I want an RX8 now, again. So there's that at least.

Thanks, Steve!

Remind me what MS you have? Built by whom?

I have the fully sequential, map daddy ms2pnp by diy. But do the coils have their own built in noise suppression, since there are 3 different grounds?

Sorry, Don't know that answer. I was kind of going with Brain's MS3X with adjustable pot inputs for Cam and Crank; vs. MSLab's non-adjustable, opto-isolator inputs, for which there is evidence of noise issues. I don't know what the PNP has.

As I look at the MS instructions, the opto inputs seem to be the recommended style for NB sensors, but I think the adjustable VR style is, in the end, more robust.

This is brought to you by someone who is NOT a hardware expert, just sharing some of your trepidation / paranoia. On my Toyota COP install, with MS3-Basic, I have to run filtering of the signals to keep from having sync errors, but DIYAuto's Ben (with the dog Meme) has stated that no Miata should need filtering. Maybe you should ask him what your probability of failure is with your proposed set-up.

EDIT: Firmware filters, set up in TunerStudio. Ian has hardware filters on his MS3. See here for his and mine

I told him to get ms3x a long time ago. Up til now he hasn't really needed it. now that things are getting more serious and starting to run better parts, might be worth looking into.

I don't know what kind of launch control MS2 has, but the MS3 has a good set-up that is appropriate for his needs.

"Should, supposed to be." Means nothing to me, I do know who Ben is though. I think I am ok, I think if the signal and power share a ground, the risk of a misfire sending something back to the ECU is somewhat increased. I don't really know though.

What ended up causing the sync issue?

So, actually it's still not resolved. I wasn't able to reproduce it until last night. I think it has something to do with ignition break up because I don't have a problem under about 240kpa and there is an RPM drop that coincides.
I also have not been able to capture it in a composite log yet, they all look good. I have a new cam sensor that I installed at the track yesterday to see if it made a difference, it doesn't. All my grounds are solid, but I will be going over them again when I change the coils.

Clearly my car is about to assplode. I need a couple more clients so I can buy all the **** I want.
I am going to see if I can get my ignition together before and after work today. Then I will be on my way to see some of you tomorrow morning.

Had to take a hydration break but I finished the noisy stuff before noise ordinance time. Fits pretty well, not thrilled with my first wire but it will do.
Just need to get it wired up now.

I only service Marin now, I'm high class

So now my freaking car won't start. These are my coil settings;

I also wonder if I used the wrong side of the ignition connector at the front of the motor. I tapped into the signal wires, Br/Y goes to 1&4, Br goes to 2&3. I used the bottom half of the connector, maybe that just goes to the coils I just unplugged and I should have used the top half of the connector Maybe I should just plug that thing back together and tap from the coil wires at the back of the motor. Faaaak, I hope this doesn't keep me from getting down there. Maybe I should just put it back to stock but it's dark now and my car's outside, this blows donkey dicks.
