still removing parts
Decided to remove the interior today. Got to say this interior was a pain compared to the interiors I've removed in other makes (mainly nissan 240's). Especially the dash! Probably seemed extra difficult due to some 1990's stereo tech who installed a clifford alarm system and kenwood tape deck. I swear the guy used a whole role of electrical tape and about 50 zip ties. Carefully removed the alarm system which seemed to tie into everything including the starter. I REALLY hate messing with a car's wiring harness, but after all of my harness refurb the car still cranks and the systems all seem to work ok.
So ready to use the sawzall! Rear fenders are coming off tomorrow. Still couldn't wait to cut something off the car today so I decided to remove the muffler. Sounds horrible, but I kind of like it.
Found two Kennedy half dollars, a dollar bill, a Boy George tape, and a single pearl earring. Unfortunately the half dollars are not silver....
Attempted to remove the windshield Starsky and Hutch style. Did not work so well, but I did get shards of glass in my boots. YES.

Feeling kind of lazy today. Put in an hour or two on the miata...mainly just cleaned up the mess I left in the shop. Ripped the dash bar out of the dash and put it back in temporarily so that I could remount the steering column.
Starting to second guess making my own roll cage from scratch. Seems like a huge pain in the ***. I'd like to buy a basic kit and then modify it as necessary. I can probably build a cage for less than $200 in materials, but it's worth a couple of hundred extra if I don't need to use the tube bender. So...anyone have advice on a roll cage kit I can have DELIVERED for less than $500? There's a cage on Jegs that fits the budget, but I have yet to find any installation photos or reviews online. It's listed as an alstom brand cage.

So I've made some progress. Still going along slowly due to my workload. I've started the cage (only managed to install the main hoop thus far). Roll cages are a pain. Tacked the cage together on a table just to see how it went together. I received no drawings or markings on the cage members.
Also, purchased a 1.8L motor (1997) and some plastic racing seats. Hopefully I can dedicate the weekend to the ghettocet.
