Unhappy DIYPNP Will Not Start My Miata

Hey guys, I am having a very difficult time with my DIYPNP. I have built it following the page from DIYAutotune. I'm almost certain everything within the DIYPNP is correct. I have fuel and I have spark. I upgraded injectors to 550cc, but I changed the settings on the base map from DIYAutotune for my injectors. My car has a turbo and it's also automatic (manual swapping this winter lol). I have read that the autos have a variable TPS. Would this affect anything if I hooked it up in the DIYPNP with no variable TPS? I cannot get this car to start and it's been over 2 weeks of messing with it. I'm totally lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a datalog but don't know how to upload it (sorry, I'm a noob)

If you have a variable TPS, then you should've followed the notes in the DIYautotune guide for variable TPS. Not having the TPS wired is not an issue for starting, but if you have it wired incorrectly and it's sending bad voltage somewhere, it would be an issue.

Post pictures of your board and take a composite log. From the info provided, you either didn't build it correct, or you need to tune it. You say you have fuel and spark.. do you get any combustion? Does it try to start?

knowing what year miata also would help. Does it just crank over and not fire? does it sound like it wants to fire at all? how have you confirmed spark and fuel?

also, where are you located?

acedeuce802- It wants to start but it won't catch and take off

mmmjesse- It's a 1991 with a turbo and it's automatic. I have check spark and fuel and I have both. It wants to start but acts like it doesn't want to catch. I'm also located in MD

Here are pics of my board -

trubokitty.com build based off there and not DIY. The guide is a bit newer.

Okay guys, I haven't had time to work on her until today. I got it running sort of. It idles but sounds like It's not running on a few cylinders. Also, when it warms up to operating temp, it dies and will not start until it cools down. Anyone know what is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds suspiciously like a car that needs to be tuned.

the fact that you have a 1K resistor going into "GND" (which actually goes nowhere) back to 4A, suggests you didn't follow the DIYAUTOTUNE.com instructions, but instead made up your own.

Did you remove ST_SIGN fuse?

Shuiend posted the correct answer.

Brain, I don't know what I was doing when I hooked that up. I have now resolved that issue and hooked up a variable TPS. Yes, fuse is removed. I got car to start, but it runs very poorly and it shuts off when I reach about 190 degrees.

start increasing your REQ_FUEL back a point at a time, and see if it runs better. i don think you re-scaled the basemap correctly for your injectors and dont have enough fuel to run.

Shouldn't he have his REQ_FUEL at the calculated value? Then scale his basemap accordingly?

Alright guys, nothing I try is working. I took away fuel, same thing, I added fuel, same thing. My car barely starts, and when it does it runs very poorly. I am completely lost. I have never done this kind of thing before, so excuse me not knowing what the hell I am doing lol

what is your AFR when it is running? do you have your vacuum line connected to the ECU? Is tunerstudio showing vacuum? What base map are you running? Do you have a missfire where it barely runs and revs or will it rev ok but not idle?

It is about 10. It's running extremely rich. Vaccum line is connected. TunerStudio is showing vaccum. I'm using DIYAutoTune base map for 460cc injectors and I changed required fuel because my injectors are 550cc. Yes, it sounds like it's only running on 2 cylinders. When I try to rev it, it hesitates extremely bad and revs really slow. It actually idles, but only on like 2 cylinders. Also, when the operating temp gets normal, the car shuts off and does not start back up until it has cooled down

Ok, so you set base timing. Now go back to the timing table, are you trying to drive around on fixed timing? lol
