Yea there's always a rush, rush, rush feel on race week. I still gotta finish packing myself and go get a trailer. Hope you get everything done. Some of the petty stuff could wait till you get to RA and then finalize it all there. I'm trying to head out of Charlotte between 3 and 4 tomorrow to be able to get registered and tech'd tomorrow afternoon. If you're at the track then I can lend a hand if you need.

I'm way way down in the lower lower paddock if anyone wants to come say hi. Brown Dodge Ram with a smaller white enclosed trailer.
I actually made it out for the morning practice session which was a surprise. First time driving a rear wheel drive car on r-compounds since 2013? First time ever driving a Miata on r-compounds. So, I sucked. Car did alright considering.

First weekend is in the books, much fun was had.
Car did well despite being hastily prepared and zero setup time.
I missed the win today by 0.013 seconds. Zero point zero one...

Video from Sunday mornings TT session. This is the session Flier and I both set our fastest times of the day. My fast lap is the second in this video...the one where I get a tow down the back straight from the white Nissan. I can think of about a dozen ways I could make up 0.1s on that lap...

Oh yea...steering wheel hardware was definitely loosening throughout the session. I think there's a point in the vid where one of the bolts makes its escape somewhere between turn 5 and 6.
I finally got some proper hardware and got the wheel safely secured right before the last session of the weekend.

I would have had a different mindset going into that session if I remembered you were on R7s After analyzing my video, getting tips from friends, and looking at yours I definitely should have been into the mid 44s that session, shoulda coulda woulda. I am glad you came down, it was a blast, and I always enjoy competition!

I'm registered to race in PTE (and maybe TTE?) this weekend at NCCAR.
Naturally I haven't touched the car since Road Atlanta in June. Two evenings to get the car prepped and improved for the weekend.
Man...I suck at this

Raced at NCCAR this weekend with NASA Southeast. Pretty low car count but a fun weekend either way.
Ran as a 16pt PTE car Saturday...one other car in class. Finished DFL in class after qualifying on pole on some old spent SM7s. Made one mistake in the race that cost me 4-5 seconds and the other PTE miata got around me. I caught back up but could get by before the checkered. Fun racing even though just two cars.
Bolted on the R7s on 15x9 wheels Sunday morning and promptly went like 2+ seconds faster a lap. Supersized to run in TTD on Sunday because there were 4 TTD cars running on Saturday. I hoped I could sneak in and win some Hoosiers. That plan back-fired as one of the D cars switch to TT4. Smashed the TTD field running a 1:36.989 in the 2nd session. After that session I noticed the left rear wheel bearing was fubar'd and started packing up. Missed the PTE racing on Sunday but oh well, better safe then sorry.
Next NASA event is in ~3 weeks at Roebling Road. Need to do some maintenance on the car and start making some improvements i.e. bolt on an oem header and actually run the MS2 that is in the car.
The car is stooopid fun to drive either way. Super compliant and driveable. Fun to play and dance with.
Cheers

Set-up on Saturday was 16pts...I wouldn't recommend this if you want to actually be competitive.
Intake +1, Full header and exhaust +5, 205 SM7s +2, OEM 4.3 LSD +3, Bilstein coilovers +5 = 16 total.
No idea how much power this setup makes (stock ecu), but I was barely able to pull mid-pack spec miatas on the long straight.
Only difference on Sunday was 205 R7s vs. 205 SM7s.
My fast time on Sunday was 3s+ faster then the fastest SM time of the day, but there was only handful of SM cars there and I'm not sure how competitive they are in general.
