I probably won't be racing NASA with this car next year, so I'm not too worried about the ST5/ST6 stuff. I'm sure miatas will still be competitive, but likely a slightly different formula than what is currently competitive. It will probably take a year for people to figure what's the fastest ST5 Miata setup, and fastest ST6 setup.
Next years tentative plans are to add some aero and horsepower and play other places.

So...I've been down and out for a few days with a stomach bug. Lost like four nights in the garage working on this thing...and critically one entire Saturday.
That "to-do" list is looking rather daunting right about now.
I'm thinking I may run TTD for the Rd. Atlanta event because it will be less work. I can leave the sway bars and header, won't have to do any exhaust fab, and won't have to worry about ballasting the car at all.
Since this first event is mostly just a shakedown, it doesn't really matter to me which class I run in.
I've got the VVT engine partially ready to come out, shouldn't be too much more work and I'll have an empty engine bay. Once I get the engine swap done, then I'll worry about which class to run in.
Also, I checked the spring rates currently on the car...800lbs/in front ; 250lbs/in rear
Wut?!? And the rear sway bar is disconnected.

Also...Amazon only had two new wheels when I ordered them. They had two more that were warehouse deals that had "cosmetic" damage only. One wheel had a nick in the paint, the other had a little more damage:
So, it's hard to tell exactly from the pictures, but a portion of the lip has a dent in it. It looks worse in real life then it does in these pics.
So... would you run it? On the track? Racing? Doing things that are notoriously hard on wheels?
Should I try to "repair" the dented portion?

Registered for Road Atlanta and booked a hotel.
Registered in TTE...mostly to help Flier win some tires? We're at four now in TTE...don't we need a fifth for Hoosier contingency? Suprisingly, TTD has like 9 cars.
Anyway, now I have to actually execute and get the car ready. To the garage!

Hell yeah! Well.... I still need to actually win. Rensel in the Sentra runs consistent mid-high 44s, so if he stays at that pace I'll need to repeat and/or beat my PB of 1:44.2xx. Sandro typically drives for Team Parkhurst and he runs pretty consistent 1:44.2xx-3xx as well. I've made some suspension changes that will help, but power is king at that track. I just asked Haff, one of the TT directors(SE has two) who runs TTE , if he was going to show up....hopefully.

Progress is moving along, I'm not sure how smoothly, but it is moving.
A friend came over on Saturday to help me install the 99 engine into the car. Engine and trans went in without too much trouble.
Procured some OEM sway-bars and endlinks and got those installed.
Still waiting on the non-VVT MSQ from the previous owner and need to get my hands on a 99 OEM exhaust manifold and downpipe. Those are currently the biggest hold ups.
Still lots to do, but it's mostly little stuff that should go more quickly. All of the "heavy lifting" is complete, as it were.
I took all of Friday off to load the trailer up and hopefully have plenty of time to tow down to Braselton. Planning to get to the track in time to get registration and tech done Friday.
99 Engine back in its rightful home:
And since this is Miataturbo.net... garage kitty approves:

Need to load the car into the trailer in ~24 hours and there is still a ton of crap to do. Car still hasn't started and run with the '99 engine. Exhaust needs to be tweaked to fit the OEM manifold and downpipe. LR damper needs a spring change. Trans fluid needs added. Torque check of everything needs to be done. Brakes need to be bled. Etc. etc. etc.
I hate this crap...worst hobby ever.
Of course the proverbial poop is hitting the fan at work at the same time as thrashing to get the race car ready. Needless to say, I haven't been getting a lot of sleep and probably won't again tonight.
Ugh
