Sam Mk1 Mx5
Hi to all. I'm Sam, and im currently running an NA, NA '97. I am 23 and i drive truck for a living with no mechanical background what so ever. I am massively into car's however and have always wanted to build myself something out of the ordinary and something a bit different.
My car was an MX5 Classic lowered on coils with 16'' BBS reps until sadly, a meeting with a curb changed the whole setup of my car. From here is where my mind started to wander, i found myself a local MX5 specialist garage and here is where the fun began. I started by ordering a full set of wings and quarters for the car. Not happy with being only rolled wide, i decided to take the plunge and get the 55mm wider arches. Naturally for the extra space between the body of the car and the arch i needed a bigger wheel. So that was next purchase. I bought a full set of JR19's at 9J and an et of -13. Perfect! Then came the not so enjoyable experience of fitting my front arches! The shape was awful, they didn't want to fit and they started cracking in places. I held my head high and kept pushing with advise and help from mates to make the car wide. Now she sits low, wide and very pretty.
Next thought i had was the craziest thought of the lot. I wanted more power, and lots of it. I started doing my research to putting possibly an Sr20 DET, then i thought i wanted bigger and was looking a the Lexus V8 swap. But still not to my fancy. Then i had the thought of putting a 2jz lump in the from of my MX and running ridiculous power in my tiny little car. As much as i thought about it and the price kept climbing it just didn't seem like i was going to be able to afford it this lifetime. (If i ever wont he lottery this would be my first build. Its Has to be done!). Then driving down country i receive a phone call from a friend saying there is a 1.8 supercharger kit for sale, but for a Mk2 car. I pondered, had a chat with the guys at the garage and then dropped the single, biggest purchase of my life. I had bought myself more power. Something i said i always wanted to do, but something i didn't think i'd be doing this quickly.
Booked my tickets for Japfest at Silverstone. Brilliant! Car will be on a stand at a festival where she belongs. Widebody Mx5. But now i could be a supercharged Widebody mx5! Even better! The only issue there is that i have no idea what i'm doing with regards to the Ecu, fitting the charger or even how the thing works. I know the basics that it is belt run, instant power and all the normal stuff. But then the shock of my life when came the monstrous task of rewiring the Mk2 ecu to fit the Mk1 car. It was too much for my so i asked the amazing Mark (the specialist) to wire it for me. I have had a few guys looking around and coming up with a pinout for the swap, and for the most part it seems have have worked.
Then we tried firing up the car and this unfortunately is where my life story ends. The car doesn't run. We have no spark. The intercooler, 2nd throttle body, pulley system aren't in the car. Tomorrow is Monday 24/4 and i have until Friday 28/4 to get the supercharger up and running, tuned and ready for her first showing. I will attach some photos so that you may all laugh at my lunchbox pine of show rust and if anyone is handy with the MS2 i would ask that you check out my threads at the Megasquirt area and offer a hand.
Thanks for reading this far and i hope you've enjoyed my story! I will keep this updated and this week goes by to see if my car makes the show.
Take care and drive safe all,
Sam

Welcome to the forum. You've got quite an uphill battle ahead of you and I frankly don't think you'll be able to do it.
You didn't mention a wideband or injectors. I assume you know they are necessary.
The heavy, low offset wheels make the car slower and handle worse, for what it's worth to you.
Put your location in your profile so it shows under your screen name when you post. Someone here may be local to you and could be of assistance.

Glad you like my car! It's a shame you come on and slate someone else's hard work, their project and their money for a quick laugh behind a PC monitor. I haven't seen your car, but i'm sure if I didn't like it i definitely wouldn't be saying stuff like that about it. I'd say it wasn't to my taste..... What a superb admin you turned out to be....

isn't that the exact reaction you're aiming for with that disgusting thing?
you spray painted your turn signals purple for crying out load... that's about as hard work as my flaccid ***** right now.

Yeah, and neither did I? What do you know about me and my car, yet you can say this stuff. You not gonna change the post back to how it was or are the words you used actually been censored? If your such a perfect and helpful admin, I need some help on reporting someone? How do I go about doing it? Thanks!

I am curious, the purple front lip seems to be in quite a few pieces and then zip tied and taped back on the car? In all honesty, what is the point? I kinda get guys who like these types of cars use bandaid stickers and 'stitches' to make their car look different, but this seems like its literally broken.
