Also worth mentioning the car set FTD with the stock 1.6l. No Turbo. I'd say my odds are good.

Sorry that came out rather dickish, I'm pretty tired of people coming at me half cocked going you shouldn't do that, you don't know what you're doing blah blah. This is an intro thread petes sake. I made a build thread, I realize some may not want to click the link, fine but don't give me uneducated condescending advice. At this point I'm doing my final checks/trouble shooting to get it on the road. Hopefully today!

Looks good. couple things i would change like the coolant route and the cap, but it looks good. can you drive a turbo miata in csp with a larger than 205 tire?

I also noticed that you did not un-shroud the valves. After all the huffing and puffing about the past horsepower achievements, you didn't do the most basic cylinder head mod...

I'm not a member at m.net. And I like to run an ad-blocker. I can't see their content unless I disable the ad-blocker or join, but I don't feel like doing either, so . . . .

Nice car. Especially for NY, looks really clean.

I hope I never give you uneducated, condescending advice. I can see that it's a trigger. That said, I recommend the Generation Wuss thread. That's where we laugh at people who think they are victims.

Cant drive a turbo in csp period. I got the head like you see it and didn't think it was worth it.

Due to the time table I had to prioritize some stuff want vs need. Right now I'm on a time crunch to be broken in and pro tuned by months end. There's plenty more I'd like to do, like the coolant reroute, however at this point if it doesn't get it done faster it isn't getting added. The plan is to run the car this season, and get a good feel for it, fix as needed then over this next winter to attack the weakest areas. As of this moment, I need to fix my computer, then bring it up to temp fully, final check then get it out on the road. Did the most important mod Friday, got it registered!

On a serious note, I think what you have will be fine for Auto-X in cooler temps. A lot of us track the cars in places like SoCal or TX, which puts a ton of heat stress on them.

It can be difficult to find a tuner with MS experience. A local member with MS experience could help you out in a pinch.

Yeah, just last night I was showing the car to my Dad, I told the car had deleted AC "duh you live in NY who needs AC on their convertible!".

For tuning I got super lucky. The previous owner is familiar with megasquirt and lives just 4 miles down the road. Across town I found Berg Racing who is the premier tuner in this region for MS. They build track specific cars mostly. Watkins glen is just a little over an hour south of me. When I first got the car I linked up with them in the first week or so, super friendly guys. The owner is super patient with me, asking lots of questions and they've given me lots of little tips and help along the way. Going to Berg was amazing they have a georgous shop, and the have a 91, 1.6 built for Watkins. They built the car a few years back and the owner has beating the snot out of it since, they've had to fix nothing
But consumables so I've used that car as my reference/blueprint. The car put 230 on their mustang, stock motor, stock Ecu same turbo. Theyre confident I can match that power with a much higher safety margin.

Right now im debating between buying the upgraded tuner studio with VE live and using that for a little while, then letting Berg tune it when I want more power, or just saying screw it and letting Berg just tune it after break in.

Having the full-version of the software is extremely useful even if you're not doing the hardore work yourself. You'll be able to get the VE (fuel) table roughed in closely just with some street driving and autotune, and the closer the tune is before it goes onto the dyno, the better experience you'll have there. There's nothing* tuners hate more than being a car that just barely idles.
* = well, maybe being punched in the face, or being brought a car that's got a huge pile of dead cats on the floor, but I've not tried those.

I also used the winter to attack the weak spots on my car. Then I used the summer, the next winter, and one more summer. I am stoked for you to be a le to get it up and running so quickly.

Getting the full version of TS and Mega log viewer is a nice tool. Even after you get it tuned, if you experience any changes, or want to make changes, you will be able to do it yourself. IOW, you won't be dead in the water.

Yes I see, I'm currently running the free version so no matter what I'm "upgrading" from the lite version which is what caused me the confusion. I see what ya mean now, shouldn't of shopped post alcohol. Sober me gets it.

So standard edition I think does what I'm looking for. Ultra adds features I just don't see myself using without doing way more reasearch and reading.

Small update. Cars assembled, running has just over 350 miles on it. Been chasing all the stupid little post build gremlins, coolant hose clamp loose, bad cas o ring etc. added a vtps, and have been working on the tuning side of things. I'm in way over my head with tuning but I'm not drowning, and thanks to this forum/ it's members I've been learning, although slowly. I currently have a tune Brain referred me to and have been slowly making changes to it. I have the original tune for the car, and have been comparing the 2, then searching what is X and then changing if necessary. I'm currently chasing an AFR oscillation while cruising 13.8-15.2... I think it's related to incorrect injector settings. Work has gotten super crazy tho and I haven't touched the car in over 2 weeks.

The turbo seal appears to be improving after adding a restrictor as was suggested. The exhaust side seal leaked when I first did engine break in due to over pressurization, but I now only get smoke after boost at full temps, originally it smoked all the time.....

Solo season was dealt a big blow yesterday as our primary site cancelled all event for the year, leaving us with just 3 in our region. Which is bitter sweet as now I have until Oct to get the car sorted.

Thank you to the mods and major forum contributors, although I'm staying relatively quiet in threads trust you've given me tons of great info!
