Got some more parts and started to get work done on the motor build.
I started checking the valve to valve clearance because that about all I can do while I wait to do the machine work on the block. I have a friend water jet cutting my torque plate so until I get that done I'm on hold.
Anyways I start by changing the cylinder 1 valve springs to test springs.
Next you need to lock the rockers in VTEC, I machined pins to do this.
I install my 4piston RR4 cams and set lash to zero.
You need to rig up a way to keep the cams in sync, so I pressed out a chain pin and made a custom short chain to keep the cams aligned, I use VTC lock pins from tractuff along with a gage pin to on the opposite side of the slider to keep the cam gear lock to a specific vtc angle. For people who don't know about k series engines. The TSX comes with a 25 degree vtc gear, common upgrade is to a civic is 50 degree gear. You can't use all those degrees with cams so you end up somewhere between 25 and 40 degrees depending on pistons can cams.
I rotate the cams through to max overlap
And check the clearance with a feeler gage. I start at min VTC angle and repeat the process up to 40 degrees. I ended up at .050" at 40 degree. 4piston says .030" min. I could have probably got 45 degrees out of it but I didn't gave the lock pins to check that. Beside I will most likely have piston to valve contact before then so it doesn't matter much anyway.
Next up is balancing rotating assembly and boring and honing the block.

Looks good Josh, glad you're doing your homework.
You should just be able to swap the pins inside the rockers to keep everything locked up, no? Does 4P make a set of those cams with only the big lobes?

Another step closer, made a 2" torque plate fore honing today, and my rotating assembly is balanced and waiting at the shop.
With any luck I will get to the engine shop this coming week to bore, hone and surface the block.

Made this deck bridge for measuring piston to deck height.
Boring out to 88mm (absolute max for a stock sleeve K24 ( some think it to much, but for drifting I think I will be ok)
Set up to hone .0025-.003" Piston to wall clearance.
Cleaning up the deck surface.
All done machining.
Stock TSX crank polished and balanced ( balanced with flywheel and balancer attached)
Some Duplicolor Cast Coat Aluminum
ACL Race Bearings set to .0022 oil clearance.
That superior splits case design.
Torqued down to 22ftlbs + 56 Deg
.005" Thrust clearance
Rods set to .002" oil clearance, piston rings gapped to .016 top ring, and .019 second ring, 3/8" ARP 2000 rod bolts stretched to .006"
Honestly didn't try to zero deck it, but im happy with the result. .040" cometic head gasket will set my quench clearance and make for 12.5:1 compression.
I mocked up the 4piston racing pro156v2 cylinder head with some .040" shim stock to simulate the head gasket for checking piston to valve clearance.
Degreeing and checking P2V, the exhaust cam was set to the recommended 110 lobe centerline at zero lash. The intake was checked at 30 degrees and 35 degrees of VTC angle, I have .068" P2V clearance at 30 degrees and 4Piston recommends no less than 60. So I will be using a tractuff VTC lock pin to mechanically limit the cam gear to 30 degrees. This sets my intake lobe center line to about 105 degrees. This was done with only one piston installed and with test springs in the head.
Little bumps
RSX-S Oil Pump with Kmiata Housing and Version 2 Oil Pickup, I have ported this pump for better flow and added a KJ Built Stiff Bypass Spring
Head bolted up for good.
Supertech Springs and TI Retainers and new Honda LMA's
She's wondering how much nitrous it can take.

Looks awesome, can't wait to see it rip! Side note - I love to see a race engine getting assembled next to pink tricycles.
