in Oregon you don't have to report accidents to the police under a certain damage value, let alone get them involved at the scene.

This. If anything I scraped some rust off his hitch for him. Dude was a friendly enough guy from one of the Stans and had no problem throwing on the back of his truck and towing me home. I ran into him after all even if it was a **** place to stop. I don't have full coverage on a 94 miata so I will be dealing with it.

Cut the radiator support out and such. The radiator brackets on the car and radiator itself are a little tweaked but can be made to work. The radiator looks like it was kissed. There is a little coolant down in the wind tray but not much. Might have been from the hoses getting pinched and moved. I am probably going to check the radiator for leaks. Is this module I am holding the airbag sensor? How structural is all the crap I cut out?

If you look at my build thread, you will see I replaced both the radiator support and bumper support. I bought both pieces from the dealer and welded them in myself. I didn't think it was too tough a job.

I sure hope you fix it.

I am leaning more towards finding another Stock NA and swapping everything. I planned on doing the engine tranny swap this summer anyway. I am just going to be patient and try and find one that doesn't run with a decent body for hopefully around 2k the part everything left over.

That is the airbag sensor yes.

And not very important structurally if at all. I could bend it with my body.

If you got the pieces and prepped them I'd be happy to bring my welder over and stick them together for you.

If it has the crash bar tying the frame together is what I cut out even needed? The car went under the truck hitch so most of that was missed. Couldn't I leave all that **** out for "weight loss" and just pin the hood? I am seriously considering just swapping th bumper and hood and seeing what happens.

I also cut my radiator support out. But I think I'm going to add back a piece to mount the bumper in the middle. If your crash beam is good then the car is probably fine.

If you were anywhere near NJ I would have the perfect front clip for you. It hit rocks along the bottom, so all the top parts you hit are in perfect shape.

Does $1,000 for a hood, fender, door and bumper skin sound like too much? Dude literally has everything I need in the right color.

Yes. That is a huge ripoff. Each of those parts should be like $100 max.

yeah that's what I though as well. Hard to pass on the right color within driving distance and they pull the parts for me. Dude in the phone sounded Russian which scares me. Russians in the pnw and cars equals pass almost every time for me.

Those prices sound about average for a random junkyard. 10 years ago or so I was in a similar accident. The body shop paid something like $500 for a local hood. As shipping an aluminum hood is a royal pita. You can find all the parts cheaper, but you will be searching for a while, and they probably won't be close or in the color you want. Spec miata people also buy the **** out of fenders and drive up those prices.

See what you can negotiate him down to. If you don't need to repaint that saves a ton of money.

That depends, how much does paint and body cost in your neck of the woods? $100 per part is $400, but then factor in $800 worth of paint and prep... you get the idea.

Of course I think of these things a bit differently, because my color is a bit harder to find and nearly impossible to match

This is making it nearly impossible for me to find a hood locally at any price. ******* spec miata
