Supposedly seals.
I got the bike pump out and now that the JB epoxy has hardened the thing holds 30psi before the hose pops off.
My only concern is melting the rubber pieces which is why I am starting with the single port can. If I ruin it, who cares. Might make a little heat shield like I have seen on some OEM cars.

If I can get the small turbo to hold a little more boost up top it would be really cool. Well not my IAT's.

Maybe you're thinking of my geisha girl mandarin orange can recirc port. That thing crumpled long ago. It was so bad.

All hooked up and ready to try.
Including a nice new HOEMADE PIE... pan heat shield. I wonder how my boost duty will look actually pressurizing the other side of the can.
Mmmmm pie

Working well and I was able to make 15psi up top with only 45% boost duty.
Really apples to oranges because I intentionally reduced the preload a ton to see if I could hold the thing closed with boost.
2 20 minute drives and the inner tube seal hasn't melted yet.
I need to play with it some more.

Still working well but I can't do any good EBC tuning until this rain stops. Finally got my hands on the replacement medium turbo.
I promise to treat it like a $1500 turbo while I mess with the compressor housing clamps

Not sure what the set screw, bolt and red washers are for?

Oh and yes, for the purpose of this thread the three turbos will be referred to as the "small, medium or large" turbo, with no further explanation.

So it's official, I can't seem to achieve more than 15 or 16 psi above 6200 with the small turbo. Even forcibly holding the wastegate closed it just chokes.
Make no mistake, the small turbo can easily achieve 20psi below 6000 and pop one of these stock motors. It also feels very fast even with only 15psi up top but I know it won't do 12's like this.

On to the medium one.

Will post my log soon, I need to email it from my phone so I can view it on my laptop. Wanted to adjust my tune a bit too so I can save a good one for the small turbo. I currently have it set to come on slow but increase to 100% boost duty up top.
I also made sequential work not too long ago and am still slowly pulling fuel here and there. Currently running non-EAE.

Here is the log, granted I am rich up top but I am still chocking, that is probably why it is rich. Currently running a mac 4 port boost solenoid and my crappy hoemade 2 port sealed wastegate can, which is still working fine.

Here is a comparison of my first dyno with the small turbo and the pull I logged today. I am making about 1/2psi more than I was on the dyno above 5500 but my tune is off more so probably similar power. Again this comparison is for the small turbo.

Round 2 with the medium turbo.
I did notice that the original small turbo has a tiny bit more axial play than the new medium turbo. Not sure if the small turbo could maybe achieve more up top with a new thrust bearing.

Medium Turbo spools 15psi under 3400 and 19.5psi under 4000 there is still room for better spool. This was 4th gear as flat as possible around here, don't worry I dialed it back a little. Still don't know what it will make up top yet but I didn't port the wastegate so I am hopeful I can get 19psi above 6800. If so this will easily do 12's.
Overall impression is very nice so far

First off, I am able to hold 16psi up top with 23% boost duty but the rain is keeping me from tuning my EBC.
So....
More fuffy sh!÷
18psi is the man!
This is difficult

At first I thought I over baked this thing like some kind of stoner, but then I checked the unbaked one and it seems to be just from the heat of the bulbs.

Serious question, no really.
I can't seem to find it but I thought someone left this thing out. Maybe they just left it chrome and then decided to paint it later.
So my question is, what are the consequences of leaving this thing out?
A. Looks like an injured Terminator but if you want that look.
B. The lense melts because it's actually a heat shield.
C. The housing melts, catches fire and you need a fire extinguisher to save your car. See B. Followed by eternal hazing from you guys.
Maybe I will be the guinea pig and throw an extinguisher in the car.

Yes I used my filthy welding gloves to pull these apart.
