Quick update with details to come, at Gingerman the 245 Maxxis on a 9" wheel is easily worth 3-5 seconds over a 225 Rival non-S on a 9" depending on the driver and their comfort level with oversteer. We bought a set from the Sahlens Pro team at the track so we were able to run a shaved set. The shaved tires didn't seem to offer better tread life, wear, or heat tolerance vs standard tread depth and I would struggle to tell the difference if they actually felt tighter/less squirmy as well. Still the tire to run wet or dry for us, guess I need to 2.5x my tire budget.
Huge disappointment for the weekend was the inability to run the 245 Maxxis on our shiny new 10" 6ULs. There was an issue when we had them mounted and I didn't have time to rectify it safely with everything going on.

Same weekend actually, we ran the 225 Original Rival tires on Saturday and 245 Maxxis VR1 tires on Sunday. Our fastest time was a 1:47.5 with a big spread across drivers Saturday, then a 1:44.5 with a tighter grouping on everyone's lap times Sunday. The car still has 2 easy seconds left in it if not more with more tuning and tweaking.

Update: I have 3 corners done, the rears do require more work than the fronts and each corner is a little different. I recommend you pull each spring and check compressed clearance for every corner. Note on the front, don't forget to check full lock as Emilio pointed out. You may need to block and reposition the jack when compressing the fronts for each steering lock direction.

Fully compressed rears with extended top hats, springs removed. Hitting upper control arm to frame/body. (I added taller bump stops after this.)
