Ok, thanks for saving me the hassle and wasted track day.
I will keep trying while I save for tires. If I can make a good run with a 1.9 60' time it will be under 13.
On the subject of tires, I am looking at MT street bias but my wheels are an inch narrower than the recommended smallest size. I have a 6 inch wheel and I want an 8 inch tire. Will the tire shop even be willing to mount them? If so what kind of problem will I have at the drag strip?
I don't want to run drag radials, but they are available in my size.

I recommend an M&H 7.5/23-15 slick, which is designed for a 6" wheel. That tire will easily get you in the 1.7 60' mark. You will need a spare set of wheels because you will need to drill the valve stem hole to run tubes. You will never, ever be able to air them up without tubes.
Slicks take a little getting use to. The sway is a bit unsettling at the big end of the track, but you will never go back to running anything else at the dragstrip unless someone makes a drag radial that actually works in the sizes we need.

Thanks for the recommendation, I just found the M&H slicks. I asked some of the guys at the track today about them and they have a strong reputation. I have a spare pair of wheels specifically for this.
I couldn't launch well today but I only had 3 runs before I had to go. Did manage to get my best trap speed at 107.5.
Oh well, Wednesday night is only 2 days away.

Thanks! The credit goes to 18psi, as it often does.
I lowered my tires to 18psi and launched at 5000 for that one.
There is something else I learned reading between the lines, a hint is, I do better with my spare tire, jack and passenger seat installed. Was taking that **** out a few times, but it screwed my 60' time.
Yep, I run faster times with more wieght. Also interesting to note that it is still 77*F out right now. I don't think I recorded an IAT less than 95*F at the track today.
I know the weight thing will change with slicks.
Thanks again for all the help guys!

I know, I know. Get some slicks on there ASAP.
Still had a fun night, best $25 I ever spent, I only ran low 13's at 106 & 107. The lower ducting had to be removed because it seemed like it was going blow the hood open over 100mph.
I got to see this Ferrari run against a diesel truck. Ran a 10.8, about on par with a GtR
I am saving for the slicks and I found someone who will mount and balance them for me.

Interesting, no need to balance them huh?
My launch depends on what happens as I take off, but I do try to engage and not dump the clutch. If I feel it start to bog, I slip a bit more, those are usually my fastest 60' times. I also find for my tire/pressure combo, 4500-5000 is the correct rpm range, too fast and I spin too slow and I bog.
It is definitely different for different tires and pressures, and some of the decision process occurs when the light turns green. Also the track is just different each time, depending on many things, such as who just ran in front of you.
Good luck, and please your time slips. It would be nice to see some more active threads in this section.
