Anyone have reliable lap times that ND's are running? Actually being driven to the limit on 200tw tires? I'm curious how they stack up, and haven't seen any at our tracks around here yet. If so, mods list would be helpful.
Has the ECU intrusion/limitations during constant track use been permanently dealt with? I've been following this thread pretty close for the last year and don't recall updates on these items.
Late to the party (sorry) but I have some info for once. I do race support for the MX-5 Cup series, which ran NC chassis cars last year and are on ND's now. Stock long block, header, ECU - the cars make about 155whp - and fancy suspension. Tires are 215/610r17 BFG slicks, very similar to the R1-S the old car ran. They've been consistently about 2 seconds a lap faster than the NC cars were (~2:35 laptimes), which were similarly prepared (more power, higher end shocks than the new car, but also heavier). At Road America a couple weeks ago, the top 8 or so qualified above the previous lap record.
So we got our first prototype cover set in yesterday and had a local customer bringing a car for test fitting purposes.
Overall, this came out even better than I originally thought it would, and the final production pieces should be even better because we were able to make a couple minor changes in the design that will clean up the end result even further.
For those who have already installed the bar, this will be a very simple retrofit that will take no more than ~20 minutes to do.
Those who are going to purchase a set with their bar are going to add only a handful of minutes to the installation process, and by handful I mean counted on the hand of a bomb squad guy
The covers are made out of Leatherette which has a texture that is fairly similar to the interior plastics -

Car before we started -
The installation process is extremely simple, just cut the little ridge left on the rear plastic piece off and apply the Velcro strips on.
You'll be happy to know that the Velcro has a sticky backing made specifically for installation on plastics, it's all in the details!
With the prep work done, simply slide the covers on and attach the Velcro strips to the ones sewn on the back of the covers.
That's it, done!
With seats in place, the covers blend into the interior well -
The one thing that we'll be changing on the production covers is that the outer most flap is going to be about an inch longer so that it folds further down next to the little rubber bumper to make the edge of the flap even less visible.
Again, it's all in the details.

high speed rebound adjustments are pretty much useless in my opinion. Maybe an F1 team can find gains using them, but for the average consumer it just adds confusion, cost and another hole for the damper fluid to leak out of.
IMO you want high speed slope to be near-flat, and the "high speed" adjuster should adjust the knee location (above which the curve heels over).
My near ideal set of adjusters are:
-low speed bump slope
-low speed rebound slope
-bump knee
-rebound knee

Our rear, no plans for production until 2017. Legsport front. Aero, dunno. Sex, hells yah. No ducts but we're switching from the 11" Dynapro 4 lug mount to 11.75" radial mount Powerlites in the next few weeks.

With this being the factory fill, it's not shocking to find high metals and silicon in the oil. The metals are from the new parts making elbow room and silicon is from harmless sealers used during assembly. It usually takes a few oil changes to wash this stuff out, especially if you stick with longer intervals like this. As long as things start looking more like universal averages, which are based on about 6,900 miles of oil use, we won't have anything to complain about. The TBN was strong at 3.1 since 1.0 or less is low. You could try 12,000 miles next. Check back for progress.
Advanced Keyless Entry. It's a mandatory option for the US markets (impossible to special order without it), but it's a way of faking the MSRP. The 2016 MX-5 is only 24,895! (by the way, you must take the $130 AKE and there's a $800 destination fee).
The car came in Saturday, ahead of schedule. Too bad they drilled the front bumper for a front license plate, even when I told the three people I dealt with at the dealership many, many, many, many times to not do that. So I refused the car and now they are going to swap the front grill piece that they drilled with another ND that is coming in on Monday, so I should be able to go pick it up Tuesday.
Yes, I did. However, one of my passenger side top straps ripped out and is hanging on my passenger side interior, so it is going right back on a warranty claim.
