help getting started
I purchased a megasquirt from a forum member. It is for a 2004 MSM. It arrived in new condition, but without any instructions or CD's. I'm not even sure if it's complete!? I've been holding onto it while I read up on what else I'll need and how to install it. If I can get it installed, and the car basically running, then I plan to take it to another local Forum member who will help with the tuning... I just don't want to bring Curly a "basket case".
Q1: Is there application specific instructions available? I figured that the install info would be online, but as of yet I'm unable to find a specific instruction set, or youtube video for my application.
Q2: What are those 4 unused wires in the harness used for?
Q3: An online tutorial for a different version said that I had to remove my "st" fuse. Is this needed for my application?
Q4: Don't I need to use a GM air temp sensor? If so, do I just wire it into the existing OEM plug?
Q5: Where does the wideband hook in?
thanks for pointing me the right direction. cj

Daniel, his forum name is 95M. No complaints here; he seems to be a nice enough guy, I just didn't ask him enough questions. https://www.miataturbo.net/miata-par...s3x-msm-85646/

I'd be careful using something that you don't know anything about. Not that's it's a bad Megasquirt, I'm sure it's not at all. But, the way you figure out where those 4 wires go to is follow them to the connector, figure out what pin they are on, trace that pin to the circuit board and figure out what it does. This is why it's either nice to buy a PNP, buy directly from Brain where you get instructions, buy a DIYPNP where there's pretty much one way to assembly it and you can find instructions, or you build it yourself so you learn about it.

Braineack should get you directions. I know he has been working on baller new ones. The real question is what year miata is it going into? If it is not going into a NB2 you will most likely need a different wiring harness to make it work with whatever year your have.

but to answer those questions for future reference:
Q1: Is there application specific instructions available? I figured that the install info would be online, but as of yet I'm unable to find a specific instruction set, or youtube video for my application.
my installation docs are available in my for sale thread sticky post.
Q2: What are those 4 unused wires in the harness used for?
the wires are labeled, but on your harness:
Yellow/Green and Yellow/Pink - Spark C and Spark D
Pink - WBo2 input
Green / Red - EBC output
Q3: An online tutorial for a different version said that I had to remove my "st" fuse. Is this needed for my application?
That is only necessary on 90-93 MSPNP units bought from diyautotune.com.
Q4: Don't I need to use a GM air temp sensor? If so, do I just wire it into the existing OEM plug?
Your harness should be wired up to your second AIT sensor, post IC. You might need to confirm the calibration values for that sensor and update your unit with them (very very very easy in software)
Q5: Where does the wideband hook in?
Pink wire on the harness.
