Torsen swap now or save for OS Giken?
I have another question for the racing experts. My NB is a base with open Diff. I'm wondering what others think of my following logic.
I want an LSD, but think I would benefit from learning the cars characteristics first with an LSD. I know I won't go faster, but that isn't my goal right now. I want to learn to feel the car and improve my driving skills. So, I was thinking to add the LSD later this year. Does that sound like a good plan or will running an open diff not benefit me much?
The second thing is that I look at the price of the '99+ Torsen's with the 4.33 gearing and think it makes more sense to just pay a little more and buy the OS Giken. I also would like to add boost in a year or two (hence becoming a fan of mt.net) and think the OSG is the stronger LSD. After I boost it, would it then be smarter to move the OSG to another used axle or just replace the gearing?
Thanks for the advice in advance!

I personally wouldn't spend the money on an OS Giken for the street. If you are planning on tracking it, then yes I would save for the OS Giken, but expect to spend another $200-350 to have it installed in your carrier.
BTW you can install a torsen from a 94-97 with a 4.1 as well and they are cheaper than the 99+. You only need the carrier and not the axles/driveshaft. Those can be picked up for $400-$450 pretty regularly. Most of the expensive 4.3 swaps you see are for diff/axles/driveshaft and are priced around $900-$1200.
I am actually about to sell a 4.1 LSD if you are interested. I need a 4.3 for my spec car.
