We make our own mounts for each customer and car, so I'm biased about what's good and what's not.
But the 2 biggest problems I see with all OTS mounts that offer enough adjustability to get the seat in the ball park on the X and Y axis, it's too far up on the Z axis, and more importantly, most (if not all) the bolts go into slots so nothing has 360 degrees of clamping.

Have you looked closely at them? I recently did a trip to Thunderhill and really had no issues with them. Surprisingly my girlfriend loves them, and the shoulder supports make perfect head rests for sleeping when you are 5'1". I don't know how the hell she sleeps in my car with how loud it is but she manages.

I personally think they look great. My only complaint is the height of the side bolsters in a dual purpose car.

not 100% true. you shouldn't bolt them in like a FIA seat. they need to be built into your roll bar.

this is how aluminum seats need to be mounted.
remember a FIA seat will flex to reduce G forges on your body during an impact. Aluminum seats bend and need to be rigidly mounted.

The aluminum seats need to be mounted into your cage. a floor will bend in a crash. It’s just 18ga steel sheet metal after all. Anyone that has drilled threw it will testify as to how soft it is. in a crash the floor will change shape, if the aluminum seat is mounted to the floor the seat will bend too. Mounting it to a cage will help prevent this, and help keep you located in the seat.

Hmm, interesting.

Looking at how they did that loop around the bottom, I feel like I could do that pretty easily, maybe with some door bars connected to the roll bar.

Why can FIA seats be bolted to the floor?

FIA seat Won't distort, they will crack under severe loads. If a FIA seat see’s enough loads to crack there is little chance for survival. We are talking near to +110g’s
an aluminum seat will bend with a 150lb guy pushing on it.

fiberglass and carbon won't bend. Aluminum will.
