Default Mk1 Aero, brakes and chassis tuning

I was wondering what you've done to improve your cars aerodynamics, braking and chassis/suspension for track-work?

Is there anything essential on a mk1 to change?

I'm going to use mine for track, autox and drifting and not much else.

Maybe have a read through the thousands of threads on aero, brakes and suspension before creating a new one? Unless you think this thread might be covering new ground nobody has discussed yet?

I'd say a roll bar (by Hard dog or Boss frog) is something almost everybody has. For track use you'll need upgraded brakes for sure, suspension something you'll want and of course tires.

The PM I received as a welcome to miataturbo from Rick:

Remember, there is no such thing as a "stupid question". Don't be embarrassed to post a question! All members in this forum are here to learn from each others experiences.
Maybe the reason why i'm making the thread is because I want to see what people have actually fitted to their car so I can interact and ask how it has performed?

Everyone knows that retrofitting carbon panels, wilwood brakes and ohlins suspension is going to make your car better, however there might be something important that i've missed or should focus on. Like for instance if there's an after-market front bumper which provides proper room and airflow for a FMIC, brace for the brake pedal, what camber adjustment arms are good quality...etc.

Really at the end of the day though i'm not stupid and I am reading/learning by searching, that is common sense, I was just hoping I could get some good info in my own topic so I could have some interaction to bounce questions of my own off.

Most aero is custom. I use a custom splitter and APR GTC-200 rear wing. There's no OTS splitter/diffuser, but there is a Miata-specific wing. Most people have a hardtop as well, it makes the car significantly more aerodynamic.

Suspension is easy, buy a set of XIDA coilovers from 949Racing. We have a HUGE suspension thread that you can find by searching.

BBK is easy too. buy our 11.75" Wilwood front BBK, OEM Sport rear brakes, Hawk DTC60s on all 4 corners, a Wilwood prop valve, and brake ducts. You'll spend ~$1500 on this setup and have supercar-level brakes.

If you aren't caging the car, I'd strongly recommend adding frame rails from V8Roadsters. They make a HUGE difference in chassis stiffness. Beyond that, a rollbar is the bare minimum required, and upgrading to a full 8-point cage is recommended if you're serious.
