Primary goal is for the net to grab your shoulders and restrain your torso, but the top strap should give a little head protection too. I'm probably going to buy this extra tall net from Simpson to get a little more head restraint.

this is the Side net that we send to most of our teams that run a GT style car (aka not a formula car. it's 28" long by 15.75" tall. Simpson bought Safety solutions a few years ago so the names are a little funny.

Miatacage.com. Center Window Net Mounting Tubes
Anyone used one of these? Obviously a dash bar that's built into a cage would be preferred, but this looks like it could work for those of us that are just running a roll bar.

a lot of you have concern with driving in a halo seat. but honestly, it isn't bad even on street, if you know the rear view mirror trick.
I don't know how to describe it. may be someone can post a tutorial. but basically, when properly setup. you shouldn't have any blind spot. 99% of people have their side view mirrors to far in. if you can see your car in side mirror, or/and if you can see the same car in both your center rear view mirror and side mirror, you are doing it wrong.

a window net or a driver net?
window net would be kind of pointless, the idea of that is to keep your body parts inside of the cage. IMO i would rather just run arm restraints.
driver net, would be helpful to keep your head & torso in line. also help keep it in the car.

I use a wide angle center rear view mirror that clips over the stock one. I like a wider field of view out of the back.
And with regard to seeing how to back into parking spaces, either open the door or use electric side mirrors maybe?

IMSA requires it. even with halo seats.
I bought a Crawford composite mirror out of a sprint car off ebay. got it for under 150 bucks, new that thing is easily over $1000.

I would be very concerned about being able to egress quickly while inverted and on fire or having a worker able to quickly determine how to extricate my unconscious body from a nonstandard netting arrangement. It becomes more difficult when the vehicle is mangled and release points are blocked by bent structure. Window nets are attached to the cage because it is unlikely to deform and they are attached by a commonly understood release mechanism located in a common location. I would advise against using a center net on both sides for those reasons.

Just thought I'd add some fuel to the fire... after the recent death in socal of Ivo... I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Cobra Evolution Pro-fit to upgrade my Cobra Suzuka Pro.
I'm in the process of home buying now so I'm hoping I can just buy a house and go trailer only... ahh deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole.

I'm going through this with my street car after the fatality at BRP last month. I have the OEM airbag, OEM 3-points, and Elise seat (OEM belts interact with the Elise seat perfectly), which is perfect on the street. For track days, I'll have a full FIA containment seat, Schroth FIA 6-points, HNRS, and a Sparco wheel.
For track days, out comes the Elise seat on stock sliders and in goes a Cobra Evolution on a PCI Universal bracket, Schroth ProfiII-6H belts, a Sparco 383, and a 2.5lb drychem extinguisher on a Blackbird Fabworx bracket. Everything is 100% reversible so I can still DD it between events without lumbering in/out of a race seat or living without an airbag on the street.
Expensive, but you only live once, and the peace of mind on-track makes it easier to focus on the task at hand.
