Global Time Attack 2018 Discussion

Catch can issue not resolved. Won't quite make a lap at full speed before it overflows and lubricates things that don't require lubrication. We have a planned fix for tommorow.
We are discovering that we have reached the limit of aero drag for 420whp. We have more downforce than last year. A lot more. But even with a marginally better L/D ratio, we simply don't have enough power to benefit from the extra smush. The car is also still a little bit tight which gets worse as the aero comes in. So we are removing the third element in the wing and raising the rear ride height a bit.
Also removing the dive planes from the splitter. So we will drop some frontal area and get rid of the worst drag components.
Overall no one is going very fast though. Bunch of cars that were predicted to go away under 1:40, haven't. Actually no one has broken 1:40 yet. Ryan's car is working pretty well, upgraded from last year and he has not matched his PB yet. Temperatures are good, not very windy so we think the track just does not have enough rubber yet. So this year at least, I don't think Vegas is going under 1:40. I think if we can find a better downforce to drag ratio better for our power level we can probably do a 1:43.
Oh yes, we are lead URWD by about .9s right as of Saturday.

Ryan had a brake issue. Had to stay late at the track to get it sorted. Between him, myself and John we figured out a way to do a fix with the tools we have. Ryan thinks he's got another two maybe three seconds in it so we might see a 1:45. I sure would like to see him get that record.

I had issues in the morning with my ignition timing, got that sorted during the practice session. Session one had a first lap flyer that put me in 4th but third isn’t looking attainable for me. Session 2 I punted the car off on a flyer as you see in that pic. Session 3 lost the alternator but still went for a flyer and took a tenth off. Grabbed an alternator last night and we are all fixed for day 2
