Discuss the pros and cons of 13" wheels

Doubtful. Tires are heavier than wheels - a new 225/45 NT-01 is ~21-22lbs, and even a non-DOT Hoosier radial slick is 16 or 17lbs. A 13" combo that's as tall as a 15" combo will have a lighter wheel, but a heavier tire, and the tire weight matters more (rotational mass further away from the center of rotation).
Our american racer bias plies are 6 lbs each, running on diamond racing 13x8s, the wheels are a bit over twice heavier than the tire.

Will be running Hoosiers, just not sure if I will be running cantilever bias ply or radials. Plan on running the 80 compound. I need to give Hoosier a call and chat whit them before I decide on a tire. I am budget limited so I can't purchase both and test back to back; though it would be nice.

I'll have to weigh my cooper 13" radial slicks but I'm pretty sure they are in the 10lb or so range...bias plys are light though ![](https://www.miataturbo.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As for 13s the JB wheels should be good...the only issue I have with my 13s is the heat at times...so compound is important...not as much circumference so the tire builds heat quick. And the wheels I run (Keizers) don't do much for cooling...but that's what my brake ductwork is for
